Funny you just posted this as I just saw this on the news. (Always on top of everything, Buli!)
I hear mixed opinions from a lot of people about this game. I own it myself and think it is a lot of fun to play. (Don't really play it anymore, burnt out.) But that doesn't mean that I am going to go on a killing spree in real life. (Though I have heard of such things happening. Supposedly because of GTA.)
Here's something else I found interesting about the game: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/07/09/172936.php
If they end up taking this game off the shelf, what will it mean for those who already own the game?

I think it's stupid b/c the people who do go out and kill people like that just are looking for an excuse to justify their actions...
And usually they are not even people who play violent games.... Somtimes but not always... People wanted Everquest taken off the market because they felt it was addictive like drugs... Far as I am concnerned if parents dont want their kids playing those games then they should pay more attention and say NO!.... Not the goerments or courts place to say what people should or shoudlnt be able to play..
Only my opinion of course

as studies have shown, children who play such games are LESS likely to commit such acts.
We also know it IS NOT the parents place to judge what games are good for their children.
And god forbid anyone enjoys a game or some lawyer no one ever heard about wants the governement to legislate morilty.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

Im just curious but if its not the parents place to judge what THEIR childern can play then WHOS PLACE is exactly?
Yeah, damn good question.
Parents are constantly blaming others (the government, schools, video games, etc) for any bad behavior in thier kids. It's pablum. Instill some values and morals in your kids or get a vascectomy.
I have one daughter and one son, so yes, I can talk.

Sheetz sells playboy, but are we getting an ijunction to stop it because it might be harmful to chilren's little heads? nooo.
We all know parents don't have time to be with their children and see what is best for them, leave it up to the government. Better yet, ship them off to a government facility so we can raise them in a box.
Hey, if parents dont have time to spend with their children and monitor what they want their kids to see/play, then they shouldnt have had kids to begin with..
You either step up to the plate and fill the responsibility of being a parent or you live with the fact your kids see/play what they want.. But DONT blame it on the government and/or game designers. Its the parents fault not theirs..

I have done all the hanging around the "wrong crowd" before...and ive had my share of trouble and that was before GTA.. grand theft auto in a way has kept me out from the streets and beating people on there actually kept my inside and occupied for hours instead of being outside and end up getting shot. Also i read yesturday on gamespot that Grand Theft Auto san andreas is being recalled because they are moving it from an M rating to an AO rating.

It's true though, computer games do change your behaviour. I can't walk past a turtle without jumping on it's back. I am banned from at least 9 reptile houses...
I dont buy into the whole computer games cause real violence thing
I played GTA many times and not once did I want to go out and mimic those same things in the game. And is it just the sexual parts of GTA that is in trouble? cause the game didnt seem that violent to me it was fun with the storyline but the game gets boring fast after you finish the story - and get rid of the black thug image in the game thats not ganna work
