Stop the insane war on drugs!
Drugs being illegal causes more death and crime than if they were legal. But there's too mucn money in it by keeping law enforcement employed, illegal property seizures, etc.
The war on drugs is the biggest scam the governement has going.
If they legalized drugs they would put the gangs out of business and would reduce crime by producing a cleaner, cheaper product.
If people become addicted, set up health centers paid for by the tax made on the sale of drugs to treat them like they do with alchohol.
There has not been one death related to marijuana in the history of mankind. Compare that to alchohol and alchohol related diseases.

And i can say these things with a clear mind and heart because i choose not to do certain, harmful drugs, but still think they should be legalized. AT LEAST marijuana.

whoa!!! we're getting carried away here, i posted this thread because i thought it was funny that some guys got caught with a tunnle. i don't even smoke weed so i could care less if they legalize it.
and random, in canada, more teenagers are killed through drunk driving than any thing else, not a single one of my friends, actualy i've never heard of anyone crashing there car because they where baked, in fact its been proven that people actualy drive slower and more carefully while baked because it makes you paranoid about being caught. ive talked to a few cops about it and they say they can easily spot a guys who's driving while baked because he's driving like an old lady. of course this is in BC Canada where we have the strongest, best weed in the world, so i have no idea how it is in the US.

Random, they do not include marijuana in toxicology reports after serious car wrecks (saw that on Court Tv) ,,dont think they will ever legalize it because it is a gateway drug (been there done that) ,,a guy in st louis got caught with 13 lbs of weed,he got probation, and gave him his 12,000 in cash back !!! in columbia, missouri they decriminalized it,,meaning a small fine and thats it,nothing on your record , , is'nt that legal enough,, good luck with the poilce thing Random,,i use to not care for cops ,till i needed one

I think the "gateway drug" argument is BS. You can't blame in inanimate object like marijuana to cause people to decide to try other, harder drugs. Those people are responsible for thier own actions and are looking for something to supplement thier otherwise empty lives. You can say the same thing for booze or cigarettes, that they are the gateway to harder things too.
The "gateway drug" argument is so silly that it belongs in the same catagory as the movie "Reefer Madness". Ever watch that? What a load of crap they use to brainwash youths with innacurate "facts" and falsehoods.

Random, I respect the fact that you are going into law enforcement and know that there is a fine line between how you feel and also upholding the law and doing your job. My best friend is a police officer for the city of Phoenix, AZ and I have gone on a few "ride alongs" with him. I have seen what you guys have to deal with, with all the scum of society, etc. My buddy has to enforce the law but also feels some, less harder drugs are wrong to be illegal and people should be able to do what they want in thier own house. (he is very liberal).

Maybe things will be less restricted when stupid people learn to use them right. Dont sit here and tell me mary jane doesn't screw up your senses, cause I've used it before, and it does. I've seen old buddies of mine get into car accidents while stoned. A lot worse could have happened.

Im gonna be going into the police force, it deffinitely wouldnt be cool if I had to come up to your door steps to inform you that your son/daughter was killed from a stoner high off his ass. Bad enough the chances of drunk drivers....hey what the hell screw it we already have to deal with drunk drivers, lets legalize pot and let them run free. Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

You guys surprise me sometimes with your opinions. It's cool though cause karmas a bitch.

Thousands of kids drown in swimming pools every year, should pools be illegal?

Tens of thousands of people die in automobile crashes every year (not related to drinking), should cars be illegal?

How about people take responsiblity for their own actions, and stop blaming the government. "There ought to be a law". Screw that, how about "let freedom ring"!

Clear your mind sometime, and read the constitution of The United States. It is a wonderful document. Our founders had a great vision. Then wonder to yourself where that great country they founded went to?

ok i was plannig to stop posting on this thread but i thought i'd add one thing. CAR CRASHES ARE NEVER ACCIDENTS!!!! they can allways allways be prevented. last year alone 5 people at my school of 800 died in car crashes. and i knew them all. i was so angry when i found out, i knew that they knew how to drive, but they thought they where invinceble. they died because they where either drunk and driving way to fast or someone else was drunk and driving way to fast. it makes me sick to my stomach to think of what those 5 people where capable of acheiving if they where just given a chance to grow up. but because of booze they will never get a chance. so if all you guys wont to pick on a dug pick on booze. it cases so much pain it should be against the law to drink.

sorry to go off like that guys, i just get kinda emotional when i think about it. i'm not that set against it. i drink myself. i just wish people would be more responcible when they drink.

I saw a show that demonstrated that people on reduced sleep (3-4 hours a night) were just as dangerous as moderately drunk drivers, but far more numerous. I wouldn't rule out legalizing pot based on DUI problems as I don't think there would be much of a gain in DUI violations, driving under the influence of pot would still be a crime. I suppose though, if the bulk of our worries are in regard to road safety, health issues, ect, ...we could always outlaw alcohol and legalize pot. We would have a huge net gain in health and safety overall. Even worker productivity would benefit: people who get really stoned at night are fine to go to work the next day, unlike people with a hangover. People with hangovers either miss work or perform like crap all day.
