Hockey just doesn't cut it for me. Hockey and Soccer boil down to the same thing for me: moving the ball/puck to goal, then they either get it in or they don't. If they fail to score, it's like nothing (to me) worth watching has happened. Football on the other hand can have an exciting drive down the length of the field, many exciting plays (QB getting sacked, team converting on 3rd and long, a great run/pass) only to end with an interception or goal line stand. No points, but still excitement, plus field position (where a drive ends) can effect the next series.
There's also the one game a week, 16 weeks effect where each game takes on such huge importance. Sudden death playoff structure is awesome too. A 'best of' series really does insure that the overall 'better' team wins, but football gives the crown to teams that can rise to occasion on that particular day, allows for some heroic, david and goliath type situations.
Just my .02, everyone has a different take on the subject.

i wish that you guys that do not know the NHl would give it a chance. It is a great game, fast, physical and very exciting.
I have really missed the NHL and can't wait for it to come back on October 5th!
These are the same people that can only watch 15 second plays or one swing of the bat during a single at bat. They just aren't physically or mentally capable of watching the sport..

I hate people who finger point at boston fans. There are New England sports fans who have been lifetime fans of the patriots and red sox before they started winning. Dont sit there and say that we only support them now because of the past championships because it isn't true, and I could say the same thing about any of you. Frankly I think everyone who doesn't live in New England is just jelous of what has happened to the sports teams around here. When everyone elses teams start winning I'll start saying, eh so typical joining the winning bandwagon.
And why would I be a fan of a team that I dont live near? Doesn't make sense. Sorry the Pats won the Super Bowl and the Red Sox won the World Series, I have no control over that. Sorry the teams I've supported my whole life have done good. thanks for playing though.

Rand0m you think its bad for me...how about living in New Jersey and having the Red Sox as your favorite baseball team and the Patriots as your second favorite football team. Me and a few of my friends have been Red Sox fans for a long time, and i heard so much bs about being a frontrunner you wouldn't believe.

If you're talking about me, re-read my post and tell me how many sports I think are boring, and while you're at it tell me how many sports I like.
Out of curiousity, how many sports does a person have to like before they are sports fan? Or does not liking Hockey somehow 'disqualify' a person?

Curling is evil. Women designed curling and called it a sport, in reality it was just a way to trick men into sweeping. I suspect that if I were to research the region that curling came from, I would probably find a few other 'sports' that suspiciously resemble washing clothes and mowing the lawn.
