Speel of RTCW vs. other games

Postby sgtslaught42 » Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:02 pm

I've been hearing everyone saying how great Counter Strike and BF2 are. I have just watched some videos that show some of the game play it it doesn't look like it is anywhere near as fast as Wolf. How is it that a game that was made 5 years ago is faster than the new games coming out today? I played Call of Duty on my friends Xbox and it was HORRIBLE. It was like your guy is trudging through molassses. How can people put up with that. Its insane!

They have this bizarre obsession with realism nowadays...

I agree with slaughter and Parrot make it fast and fun. I dont care for realisitic bs not for me. I have tried alot of the newer games and I still play RTCW.

It's from a cctv video of a bar. She is serving a customer and they open the door to the beer cellar. When she goes to turn around she falls down the hole.

Wolf is a lot faster than most games i've played. Most of that has something to do with smaller maps. I like the wolf maps a lot especially Depot (probably the biggest map of them all) but the 1942 and BF2 maps just are so big and you can use the terrain as cover. Tanks, jeeps and airplanes can go right by without seeing you, and without seeing the land mines you laid down ;)

The BF series is addicting just like wolf. But the way i see it, Wolf is the weed and BF is the Meth...

I like bf2 with the sprint. BF42 if you didn't have a vehicle was the shitest game in history. 20 damn minutes to get to where th fight was only to get gunned down by a tank on arrival. Vietnam was playable and bf2 is pretty good though. I still prefer the quake type speed of wolf though.

Actually Den Of Lions is the biggest map on RTCW. It's fucking huge, practically dwarfs you as a player. I remember playing that map plus Tank, on that old server Happy Penguin.

As far as new games go, I have always loved games that looked as real as possible ever since I can remember when Wolf3D debuted.
With every generation of games that make their mark, only a few of them actually have great gameplay plus graphics.

I remember hearing a phrase from a Bungie Staff game editor, "You can have all the great graphics and weapons with amazing effects, but if you don't nail that thirty seconds of fun, then you won't have a great game. so, if you can stretch out that thirty seconds of fun, you can pretty much make that an entire game."

I know that is a long phrase, but, I thought nothing could be further from the truth.
