That's tough one. Nanobots are a good bet. Alt energy is good bet.
I think we will get involved in space in a whole new way. We're already talking about building a moonbase (long overdue IMHO). I forget which country recently nudged an asteroid into a slightly different path by running a missile or something into it. On top of that, some of the way out sci-fi stuff talks about how some of these small asteroids (couple thousand feet in diameter) are made up very precious metal and minerals, things that are not just precious because they're rare on earth, but materials we consume. Nudge an asteroid toward the moon, break it up a bit and land the fragments on the moon. Bust out the 'good stuff' and send shipments back to Earth. Remember, sending stuff from the Moon to Earth is a piece of cake, relatively. As nerdy as it sounds, Space Mining could be a massive part of our (and others) economies in the next 50 years or so.

Ooooohhh... I come to you from the futuuuuuure.... to warn all of humanity of the catastrophic failure of what you call the Internet. Every server that hosts a forum posting board will be nuked... yes... literally bombed with nuclear weapons in 2008 by radical librarians. Robotic anal plugs will be all the craze in 2012. There will be no sexes by 3488; humans will evolve into hermaphrodites... the porn industry becomes more... interesting and disturbing, to say the least.

A long lost race of giant bull weevils with the ability to speak psionically will attempt to put a giant bull weevil in as President of the United Federation of Earth in 2562, but will lose to an intelligent bacterium.

Nanotechnology will become commonplace by 2010. Nanobots become intelligent and will revolt in 2011. The Human-Nano Wars will take place in 2012... people will beat themselves in an effort to get at the Nanobots. Nanotechnology is no longer used by 2013 when humans win.

The Chicago Bears will beat the New England Patriots. The Bears will flood television with a horrible music video and a large guy named The Fridge will... oh wait... sorry... my Futur-A-Scope was set wrong.

In 2397, beware the Ides of Smarch (the 13th month that will enter the calender in 2276)!

In 2112, the massive gray walls of the Temples of Syrinx will rise up from the heart of every major city of every planet under the Red Star of the Solar Federation.

<Note: sorry... just couldn't help but be an ass; this could be an interesting thread if jackholes like me didn't hijack it like this. My sincere apologies... from the future, naturally.>

Hey, your predictions might be closer to the truth than any of ours. Who know what the political beliefs of boll weevils are? I know I have my suspicions!:P

Well hopefully, it will be so cool that we can't conceive it yet. Look back to 1955 and the industrial revolution... personal computers? the internet? electronic music? who knew?

Anyway, I think computers will get so powerful they'll be like interacting with other people, and we'll all visit space for a holiday. And if we're lucky, tech won't ruin everything.

I really wish i could have dubbed some select episodes of military machines. Got my ati wonder elite too late for it.

Further advancement in stealth.

New means of common transportation... besides the automobile that is ALREADY alomsot 100 years old... come on, hundred years, its had a good run.

Supersonic underwater suibs.

torpedoes have reached that spped... so they say.

Stuff

uh...

john titor...'dies laughing'

Ya, the moon base thing, for military purposes.

It would also be nice to say we have the tech to go from nevada to bagdad inside of 3/6 hours... MONTHS before the invasion... but they'll never tell.

What about houses? Houses haven't changed much over the last 100 years. Gypsum instead of plaster and a few other things, but they are still the same basic stick frame, wood construction. Might we start building houses out of something else, on a wide scale? There are certainly pressures to push houses to evolve.

>>An intelligent beermat that alerts the bartender that your glass is empty could feature in pubs of the future.

Like an ordinary mat, it absorbs drips; but the gadget also has hidden sensors.

The device will detect the weight of the drink above it, working out how much is left before sending a signal to the bar for a refill. <<
