While I agree, this is still monumental. Everything has a begining and who know where this will lead?

BTW, the Robot series by Asimov was excellent. Highly recommended.

It's also a binary system.. only 2 possible choices. Interesting work but a long way from being what the headline is touting.

Maybe monumental was overstating it. I'll say it's just one more step toward self replicating machines. Just wait till we have self replicating nano-robots.. Yikes!

We did something similar at MIT about eight years ago. But, they were much larger and smarter. Our goal was to have miniature robots that would link to form self building habitats. The blocks would wiggle to they found their right place and connect to each neighbor. In the end we achieved building a nice box out of tiny nanobots. :D
