I think the search for new names for musical genres is just a way of excusing the fact that it's shit. Oh you didn't like my song, well that's ok it's new wave, progressive, barbershop, industrial, it's not to everyones taste, you just don't get it is all...

It's like modern art, the shitter the artist the more elaborate the speigl that goes with it.

If it's really as good as they think it is, it will trancend any borders or brackets you want to shove it into.

because deathmetal is nothing like country. it's like comparing apples to oranges, you just don't do it. there are legit reasons why there are genres. for example, progressive music. there is never a same riff repeated in a progressive song.....you play a riff for about 10 seconds then go onto a new one. and drums in progressive you have a lot more freedom to do whatever, its like a solo through out the song if you will on drums. the genres have defenitions to them. some people prefer one genre over the other. I listen to almost everything, but still think there is a need for genres. Im not going to tell someone about a deathmetal band if they like rap.....it's obvious they wont like a band that screams lyrics about death and shit. I see where you are comming from but I still think that you need to atleast generalize what type of music your playing.

metal/deathmetal/hardocre/emo/alternative/indi/pop-punk/rap/progressive/rock/classic/R&B/punk

I may categorize things but I am open minded to music. just because people categorize music into genre doesn't mean they listen to one certain genre and hate the rest.

not all rappers rap about killing hoes with clocks and bustin caps in cops faces, so get your shit right lordshard :P. I like some of sean pauls songs too if that counts for new reggae. buffalo soldier is a classic. classic rock....ac/dc, iron maiden. I listen to music with an open mind.

I find the genra of rap offensive. "BEAT YOUR WOMAN> KILL A COP" type thing. Not really singing, not really poetry, just a bunch of bilionare black people ranting about how poor they are. Loud fucking bass that anyone can do with a free midi synthsizer... Trance to get something that sounds good you got to be skilled with a syntheziser.

Take out drunks and your woman leaving you, and you dont' have country anymore :rotflmao:

As for reggea I can't understand what they are saying.
"There's a snake in your grassman!"
Me:"What?"
"There's a koobla in your poobla"
Me:"What?":rotflmao:
I have heard some reggae that sounded nice, but not enough for me to look for more. :)

Not all rap is like that just the stuff that makes the charts. There is some really fluent and intelligent rap out there that will make you laugh like hell as much as it makes you tap your foot. Same deal with country; track down some of the good Johny cash tunes or bands like 'The Be Good Tanyas' and they are really good.

I find that chart tunes represent the cream of the crap. Getting a tune in the charts is not about how good it is but more about how much are you willing to spend on promoting it, thus most of the stuff there is utter poo...

Lets be honest, there are 2 kinds of music: music you will listen to and music you won't. No sense in pussyfooting around.
