Closing our borders

Reply to rule of wrist, since it's off that thread's topic...
All of those inventions you mentioned are single constructions, a moon rocket, a levitating train, a submersible. Closing the borders is a much different kind of problem, because it's a process, not a machine.
I agree it is physically possible to track everyone and everything that comes in and out of the US. But the costs in people and systems to do it - there are millions of miles of coastline and borders to cover. Every marina would have to manned, every small airport, and all those miles of land borders. There are thousands of small recreational boaters and aircraft in our waters and airspace every day.
Not to mention how much it would slow our trade to have every singe container in our ports checked. Imagine the huge lines at the border, and at every port.
That's why I said it is functionally impossible.

How about a peadophile/rape border. Instead of incarcerating criminals convicted of sexual crimes in this country , we station them on the border, and evey traveller gets sexually assualted trying to cross into our borders. That would reduce traffic. But, the Al Queda might like that too much

I LIVE NEAR TEXAS AND OVER THE YEARS THE BORDER HAS BEEN TIGHTENED. HAS ILLEGAL ENTRY IN THE US STOPPED, NO, BUT IT IS MUCH TOUGHER. WITH 9/11 AND THE CREATION OF THE HOMELAND SECURITY THIS WILL HOPEFULLY INCREASE. IT IS A REAL MAJOR PROBLEM AND A DEFINATED LOOPHOLE IN NATIONAL SECURITY. IT MUSYT STOP.

I am sure that there are no mentally or criminally insane people in belgium and that there is no crime. Doubt it! There are 230 million Americans, therefore there are bound to be some lunatics!

and yes, i can't deny that there were terrorists in belgium:
-CCC: Cellules Communistes Combattantes (for those he doesn't speak french: fighting communistic cells) they blew up some building with bombs after they told everyone to get out of the building: one time it went wrong and two firefighters died cause of the fire...
-Bende van Nijvel: brutally raided supermarkets have killed a lot of people... some of the gang aren't found... but the most important are... (like the brothers "De Staerke")
that's it, but still not a soldier that we even gave nades or learned how to use them...
