Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Probably couldn't do that. Some animal activist would bitch and complain of cruelty to animals. But they could build a model of a birds guts and try that way if thats possible.

I don't think it would kill a bird. Birds can regurgitate (that's 'puke' for you RTCWs out there) so I would imagine that's exactly what they would do when a whole lot of pressure started building up inside.

I have caught a few birds before and this is what I've done: wear some gloves (a lot of birds carry certain bacteria and/or diseases that you don't want on you) and get a blanket or towel in a size that you can easily manage (the smaller the bird, the smaller the blanket or towel). You have to be quick, but basically you are using the blanket as a net. As soon as you have the blanket over the bird, close your hands around the bird quickly and firmly, but not enough that you squeeze the bird too hard. Most birds have skeletons that are easily damaged from mishandling, so be careful. Keep the bird in the blanket in your hands and immediately take him to the vet. Keep his head covered with the blanket as that will keep it a little calmer through the drive (believe me, it won't be completely calm... it'll be freaked out that it's been caught but if you don't have something to cover its head/eyes, it will freak even more). Keep your grip just strong enough that you keep its wings from flapping.

And good luck.

I use to have parakeets when I was a kid. Occasionally they would get out of the cage. The usual way I would catch them was, have someone get in front of them and start making noise. Not alot of noise, you gotta gauge it right. You don't wanna spook them, but you do want them focused on the distraction. Now once they're attention is focused on the distraction, quitely and carefully move in behind them with a towel and set it up so they can back into it. Once your behind them, the distraction moves in and they turn to run. Right into your makeshift net. Would use heavy gloves and clothes tho, as noted above by someone else. You don't know where that birds been. Just don't try any ACME products, learn from the coyote. Anyways, becareful and good luck.

Though I like taking shots at them,I am utterly fascinated by the people that play Beach 24x7. They've taken a now outdated game, honed in on one map, and turned it into some crazy artform. It's almost like a cult or secret society.

i think now is the time to let the bird figure out how to get out of the tangle. If you keep helping the bird from its problems, it will grow up weak and get picked on. So just let the bird be......if it dies....then it dies. Shouldnt be messing around with someone's trash anyway. Point SIR LOIN>

I'm glad you captured him :D I caught two baby birds at work a few months ago. Just gotta be really quiet, and like someone said 'ninja-like'. Little dude kept falling asleep while standing up, so each time he closed his eyes I would get closer.. Til I grabbed him with my bare hands.

I'm not afraid of any diseases that animals carry, as humans carry diseases too and I have to touch them all the time :(
