Anyone going to any playoff baseball?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

cuz baseball is tradition.. it has been played the same way for over a century and thats just how it is....

umpires making mistakes are part of the game and they always will be. ;)

My theory has always been (for any sport) beat a team overwhelmingly and you won't have to worry about a bad call or a fluke. Play the whole game neck and neck, and you expose yourself to some wierd incident (bad call, fan obstructions, various other wierd shit). It's harsh, but over time, the call that go against you should roughly equal the 'bad calls' that go in your favor. That being said, a limited instant replay can be a good thing. I think it's worked out well in football.

Hatrack you lucky... :P

I'll be across the street from the stadium at Home Plate Bar & Grill drinking a few  with some buds.

Instant replay and baseball just don't go together.

Being in that Bar SandStorm will probably be even funner. :) Any way, Allowing any form of instant replay opens a can of worms. Before you know it, they will use it for balls and strikes. Besides sports is all about being human, and to err is human. So there will be mistakes, its part of the games...its built in. Besides tthe players dont even want it. If they did, there would be a good chance we would have instant replay because the players Union is all powerful. Also instant replay makes ump/refs lazy.

No replay. Calls get messed up all the time. NOTE: 1985 WS... HE WAS OUT!!!!!!!

The game can already be long enough. If you you don't have a pitchers duel the game can last over 3 hours long. And some people complain its boring too.

1-1 3rd inning, I'm gonna have a grabber before this thing is over. I know my guys are up 3-1 but I am just dying on every pitch. We need this, my SOX need this. I have been a die hard fan since i was born and never have we had a chance this good (with the exception of the strike year when we were awesome)... lets go BOYZZZZZZ

I hear ya... it's not looking good.

Not to point any blame on the umps, but I think they have had a very poor postseason so far. Very very poor play calling. Some calls are even deciding games. :(

You guys know I what the Astros to win, but it isn't over yet....the Cards are a great team. Who ever wins must beat those Sox or Angel, but probably Sox.

I hear ya, but right now, the 'stros are the hot team. Plus they are healthy and not old as dirt in the outfield. Pitching is good top to bottom. Thats the winner right there. I'm just concerned when weasel's sox are using every pitcher into the 9th inning...

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I was wondering if there was a history between some of the umpire and the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have issues with many umpires. Namely Don Denkinger, who basically gave the 1985 world series to the KC Royals. Then there was the ump last year who threw Julian Tavarez out of a game for substance on his hat... which basically was spit and rosin. (he was also suspended 20 games without any evidence to support illegal substance) Phil Cuzzi here who doesn't know a ball from a strike and who was thrown out of the league and worked his way up through the minor leagues to make bad calls currently in the NLCS.

Thats about it currently. Can't blame all of it on bad calls, the team has to win too. However when an ump is spotting 4 extra inches up down left and right to an opposing pitcher, it certainly does affect the hit/out ratio.
