Closing our borders
- Rule of Wrist
Pudrik....What I meant was that we can do anything we put our minds to. All of those things I mentioned would be considered magical a mere 250 years ago.
You cannot tell me that there is no way. The cost may be high, but does it outweigh the cost of NOT doing it? I don't think so....
If we really put our minds to it our borders would be secure.
Not open like a virgin on prom night... the current situation...

It would be quite a feat. I can imagine having a 20 foot wall across all land borders, with surveillance to cover all points, especially those unwallable (is that a word?), then every entry point would have those real-time x-ray scanners. All aircraft would have to either be tracked to their destination and examined there, or forced down by patroling jets. Every port would have to have massive scanning bays where every container could be checked, and openned if its contents are not readily apparent. All vessels on the water would have to stay within, say, eight miles of shore, or request passage to international waters at 12 miles. Boats and high resolution radar would enforce this border,
Exercise your imagination on the complexity of this whole apparatus. Now think of how easy it is to foil. Just slip something into the engine block of a car being shipped from Japan or on a legitimate business flight with corrupt connections. Or use a small sea worthy boat to run the sea borders during a storm, when sea clutter and weather prevent tracking by radar.
And that is assuming this system can handle the volume of free trade without costly delays.
i don't think we should waste our time trying to get this sort of contraption to work. Instead, focus on mitigating the causes of illegal immigration (make it legal, and require proof of citizenship/naturalization) and improve our police methods. Notice that most terrorist plots were foiled in the past because of good intelligence.

True, any security can be defeated, but right now, we're not even making the attempt.
And I am more concerned with WHO is in the country than WHAT is in the country. The saying that "guns don't kill people, I kill people" can apply to other objects designed to kill.
And you are getting bogged in detail. Look at the forest, not the leaves....

The border can be tightened way beyond what it is. It is not a magical feat. But land borders will only stop illegal aliens. It is very easy to get into the United States via boat. How do you think most smuggling takes place. We have the radar/satalite systems to track just about anything, I would imagine, and stop this problem. If we want to!

That has to be one of the most asinine statements I have ever seen. You laugh because a man was killed, then caterwaul about a dictator getting his just rewards?
I swear cowardly people like you make every action we do MORE justified, not less. Your countries lack the intestinal fortitude to actually do anything more than whine and mewl about actual real problems. So you sit back and make smug observations on how you see things. Who cares what a bunch of pussies think?
If you feel so Anti-American, why not hop on down to Iraq, toss on an Iraqi uniform and walk the walk instead of flapping your gums? I will tell you why you won't. You sir, are nothing but a coward.
Feel the need to respond with more of your verbal excrement? Don't bother. THe statement you flippantly made about a man's death was all I needed to know about you. You are ignored.

Renz, you may be 16, but don't accuse Cid of acting like a 10 yr. old. Pot calling the kettle black.
I remember being your age. It's all-too easy to look at the world thru a tiny tube, seeing only what you want to see. I used to have a socialist mindset like you. Maybe one day you'll grow up and realize how wrong you were (like I did).

Sorry, but you're pathetic. That soldier is a black American Muslim, attacking America. Should America blame itself?
I'm sure that when radicals start attacking Belgium from within, you won't be blaming Belgium. It's more fun for people like you to blame America for EVERYTHING.

Geez, you guys suck more with every post. The oil argument has so many holes that mice mistake it for Swiss cheese.
Thanks for advocating the murder of President Bush. That just lets us openly know just how useless you are. I don't see any Americans here wishing for the death of European leaders that disagree with the US.

Hey beast, renz, guess what?
You aren't americans. Your opinion has no bearing on the current situation. You don't vote in the states and have no say with what goes on.
Not to mention, you don't have sufficient command of the english language to engage in worthwhile debate.
While you know more english than I know dutch or flemish or whatever language you "wafflers" speak today, this is an english language forum. You guys are young though, go back to school...
