Quake4 runs pretty well for me on my Geforce 6800. I think they have an internal cap of 60fps or something tho and I don't think there's a whole lot of graphic tweaks (at least not that I know of yet) to brighten it up and increase your framerate.
Maybe they were trying to level the playing field graphics-wise for those who dont know much about changing graphics settings.
I've always played the RocketArena mod and CTF. So far, I've just played Q4 CTF and it seems like a cross between Q2, Q3 Team Arena, and Doom3.
It seems to have Q2 weapon reaction times, with Quake 3 physics and Doom3 graphics.
But as far as gameplay, yeah it's just the same old thing as before. Looking forward to the mods.

Going to go pcik up all 3, FEAR, quake 4, and AoE III, will also pre oreder CiV IV, like all the pre- order stuff for the CiV game.
Should run fine 16by 12, med setting, 4xAA/af, no dynamic bullshit.
Edit, no Quake IV today, but picked up the collectors edition of AoE III, HUGE box, And FEAR, no DvD Edition though
, had to get the 5 damn cd's instead.
