Ya, the Rock is kind of underrated as an actor, I think he is pretty good. To bad most of the movies he stars in suck.
Let's see.. he's been acting for quite a few years now.. all through the wrestling days...
I'm thinking he should be decent at it by now at least.

Clint Eastwood (Munny): Hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
Jaimz Woolvett (The Schofield Kid): Yeah, well, I guess he had it comin'.

Few movies(and the book it is based on) show the life(or culture) of a Marine(or really grunt) so accurately, especially during that time period in that war. The lust for killing(shown in the movie when watching Apocalypse Now), the absurdity of the situation(in the book, he talks how there is no desert camo ready, so they are issued jungle camo, because after all it is indeed camo), bordom, terror, cheating wives(meanwhile husband visiting whorehouses), etc.
Swoff is cynical of the Marines, the experiences over there and what he saw, yet is loyal and proud.
I loved the movie, but the book is an amazing memoir. Many parts of the book are shown in the movie, just not explained.

It opened at just under $15.5 million, the second week was like $4.2 million and not even sure on the third, but know it doesn't even crack the top 12.
$80 million dollar to make movie, too.

I'm sure Doom will make it's money back in the long run. You have foreign sales and then the DVD sales. I don't know if it'll make much of a profit though.
I noticed the camo in the movie.
Yes. What I thought was great and 'fresh' about the movie was the candor. I think the Hollywood glossing was at a minimum. I was also referring to how accurate the movie was in terms of a soldier's life. Largely as depicted in that movie throughout history. I don't want to give the movie away by saying too much here so I'm keeping my explanations vague and to a minimum. I hate people who spoil good movie plots for you by telling you the whole thing.
