Anyone ever find anything good with Metal Detectors?

Found a button that said "5th" in my own backyard. Jersey's full of Revolutionary War history.

I hate people who dig holes at the beach so when I'm walking one of my leg falls into it and I look like a complete jack ass.

How To Make Money With Your Metal Detector In Five Easy Steps!!

-Step one: dig holes at beach.
-Step two: return to beach next day.
-Step three: check all the holes you dug the day before. At one or more you will find people laying on the ground with a broken leg (like Rand0m). Finish him off with a few wacks to the head with your metal detector.
-Step four: take his wallet and any other valuables on his corpse.
-Step five: bury the body in the sand.

I had a friend that found all kinds of Civil War stuff. He had complete sets of buttons and buckles for uniforms, bridles and tack, lots of bullets and even a rifle. He was a big Civil War buff. He would read history books and try and figure out where the soldiers would camp (usually near water or places to cross the water).

A typical civil war bullet (ball?) was worth about $50 ten years ago. He would take the metal object and put it in a fish tank full of water (?) and use an eletrical process to pull the rust out of the metal. He was really into it.

That's my story. Never used one myself.

I really wanted one when I was a kid but never got one. Ironically now I have one and I've never used it.
