I've never seen anything morally worng with gold-buying. If I actually cared enough and still played WoW consistently, I'd consider it for my epic mount.

I would be horrified by the way these young guys are wasting their life, if I didn't consider the alternatives.

In the end, they are using what natural resources they have that rich countries are willing to buy. It increases the flow of money from here to there, which is a good thing.

I have always considered a game to be an escape from reality, one where no matter your background, you are on a level playing field with every other gamer in that enviroment. The object of games is to succeed based upon your merit/skill alone. When you introduce real money into that ideal, I feel it has completely altered the concept of gaming. This is one of the reasons I objected so strongly to the expansion pac for BattleField2. It gave some players a slight edge if they bought the Special Forces expansion because they could still compete on the same maps as the players who didn't buy it.
Having said that, I don't think there is a way to stop this type of thing from happening. Too many people use it to make money and too many other people use it as a shortcut to the top in a game. Who's to blame? I personally don't see the point in playing a game if you're not going to PLAY THE GAME.

As usual, opinions may and will vary.

At some point it's going to be easier to live in a virtual world and, in our spare time, go playing around in the real world.

I call Power Attack for -2 to hit and +2 to damage
Call charge
Call rage
*rolls 20 to hit, potential critical...
rolls 15 and it CRITS!*
ALL RIGHT! X3 crit!
*rolls 11*
11 plus 9 is 20, and the bard is singing so 21.....63 points of damage!

In WoW, eveerything depends on gear anyway. People who have been level 60 longer have a major advantage over people who haven't been. It's not even about skill anymore anyways.

And by goldbuying, you're helping these people.

I guess it's generational thing, I just can't imagine paying someone to play for me. I wouldn't pay a penny to someone in exchange for unlocks in BF2. I can see where this could happen though if the gameplay sucked when you're new or at a lower level. That boils down to a flaw on the gamemakers behalf.

I agree, but this kind of plays into this idea for a game I thought of. It's called Plantation. You go play on-line and you are a real plantation owner. You choose the crops, time period, and ethnicity of your slaves. You can choose many places to have your plantation. Sort of like Age of Empires, to start out early we will have South America and the Aztec's and Incas, then move up to the more civilized American southern good’ol-boy plantation owner. You also have the option of an African plantation. Mmm…coffee And finally it will end in the future when we have clones to do are bidding. The best part is real Asian kids like that will be on computers doing the work as the slaves, and when you give em a whoop’n they get electrocuted in real life!
 This game makes about as much sence as those guys pimp'n themselves for WoW, is it just me or are people really that retarded? It's like buying the highest rank on bf2!

I will admit I have purchased gold for WOW... Honestly in my opinion I dont see whats wrong with it. If someone else wants to spend the time doing what I dont have the patience or time to do myself then im all for it.

Lets me experience more of the game without having to put all the time in.. I do want to point out that I only did it once to get some better items. Not something I would do regularly..

Yea, I suppose as long as you don't support sweat shops. I don't think I'v ever played a game I like for 12 hours strait, not constantly. And that’s something I like, not doing it as a job, blah. Have you ever noticed that jobs they outsource usually are jobs you can do with out? Like telemarketers? I mean do I need some Indian guy calling me up asking me to re-finance my house? Buying gold from a nurd gamer who plays all the time is one thing, buying gold from kids in asia is another.

BTW i'v never played WoW. Games like that are to much like crack.
