I was gonna ask exactly that.
Is it connected to a backbone router?

did you mean bare-bones?

Back-bone is a network term, bare-bones is when you buy a PC just like he is describing. It's a PC with just the box/power supply and board is a real bare bones system. Then add a Hard drive and graphics card etc.....

It's not like when you buy a dell or something as it has no extras (kb...mouse..monitor.. any cables except power are up to you to buy.) It's a great thing to do if you just want to upgrade your box.

Either way it sounds like a real sweet system so far, throw xp on it and it will be sweet.

How much was it?

I think it will work well. However, I would have got a little slower CPU and a faster video card instead. I would guess the CPU was around $450 alone.

I would up the RAM and up the HD size. 80 GB disappears easily these days and BF2 runs a hell of a lot better if you have 2GB - I think that's going to be more common for future games as well..

If you do go with more RAM don't take the 512x4 method. Go with the 2x1GB. If you do the former, and want to get more memory in the future you'll be stuck with 1 GB that you most likely won't be able to use.

Ahh Yes i meant Barebone, I was having an AIM conversation about my router with someone, and guess I sub-consciously wrote back instead of Bare...I actually picked up a XFX Nvidia 7800gs 256mb vid card today, to replace the old video card, so that will be in there as well.

As for Hard drive space, i have a 250gb IDE drive, that I use for all media files, because i have about 120GB in music. I put windows and all my programs on the S-ATA. It's a good match up.

Good job on the video card, that 7800GS matches up a lot better with your processor than the 6600 did.

Why did you get an agp mobo instead of PCI-E, the GT is a fair bit better than the gs (or at least I think)
