I have athlon 3200. Lol. Like I said I bought my top tier mobo 1 month before dual channel was available.Originally posted by PraiseA||ah
No, what I said was true. You may not have a motherboard that supports that function or maybe it was an early edition or maybe a low end one. Hmm.. Perhaps you have socket 754 and not 939. Those are possible reasons I can think of off the top of my head. You need to install pairs of Dual DDR to get the benefit.
Here is an article you may find helpful.

I do believe that is not socket 939. So I stand corrected. It's socket 939 AMD 64 chips that are all dual.

Yeah I have. It's the sugar pill effect, you think it's faster (even if it isn't) so you feel like it's faster.Originally posted by Evan
You obviously have never seen/used Dual Channel memory..

I've actually toggle dual channel on a PC before (mixing bank ) and run tests with no increase or decrease one way or another. Lawl

To those who don't understand what my post still was about...It wasn't a question about my motherboard, i have a Socket 939, 64-Bit Setup, and I know it supports two sets of dual-channel. The question was, whether or not my first set of 512x2 would be hampered or slowed down by the new RAM i planned to put in it.

Yes it will be.Originally posted by Conscious*

But will you notice a difference? I sincerely doubt it.
If you run a benchmark will you get a lesser score? Probably.
As a definitive answer, technically I agree with LordShard but practically speaking there is no frickin difference.

I'll run tests on my machine tomorow when I get it with just the original 1GB of RAM and then with the 2GB of RAM.

A better test would be to swap the 1 GB out for the other and do the testing that way. That would show the differences between the RAM.
