Who the f*** in their right mind manufactures a children's bracelet made with lead?? If this is the concept that passed committee at Reebok I'd hate to see what *didn't* pass: Cyanide Bracelet, Broken Glass Bracelet, Depleted Uranium Bracelet??

Lead is very common in low grade jewelry as it makes it feel more substantial and expensive. This is awful though, feel so bad for the parents :(

The bracelets were made in China..where they probably have much looser restriction and regulations on product safety.

This is a terrible tragedy that should never have happened.

Let the people in charge do some jail time, not just fines. I would be up on charges if I gave a kid a live gun, they should liable in the same manner. Ignorance is no excuse IMHO. People go to jail for manslaughter all the time, the people who ran the promo are no exception.

I agree about jail time, I mean it seems like if your rich enought, or powerfull enough you can get away with murder. I.E. Dick Cheany and his shooting fiasco! and also i agree about the lead thing, I mean they know they are for kids and they still do it just because. Thas pretty bad.

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out who dropped the ball. Just sit down and decide who should have reasonably known both who the jewelry was being made for, and what the specs/ingredients/process of manufacturing the jewelry. The first bit of knowledge is widespread, but the second (regarding manufacture) will narrow it down to a few. I would lay my life on the line in saying there was at least on or two people who knew both.

My questions are..

1. What parent would let a 4 year old play with a bracelet?
2. Was there a warning label for the age recommendation for the bracelet?
3. Why give child bracelets when the majority of the public who buy Reebok are teenagers and adults?

Makes no sense to me. Anything that can fit in a toilet paper roll a child can choke on. Reebok ought to be sued for being so dumb and i can't think of how to punish the parents anymore than they are for letting the kid play with.
