Lacie sells 1 TB hard drives...they have been since about 2004. I have a 400 GB external drive that I use for backing stuff up via Acronis.

I always thought JBoD literally stood for "Just a Bunch of Disks" indicating an array of hard drives not in a RAID configuration (i.e. if you have three hard drives in your computer case and you haven't set them up in a RAID array, then you have a JBoD configuration). Yea, it stands for just a bunch of disks...and yes, its not RAID. If my config fails on me, I have it imaged to my 400 gb drive so I'm not worried. I bought a really good JBOD controller, which put me back 100 bucks, but its been worth it.
