I need a laptop... Suggestions
I need a laptop primarily for work. I would probably do some gaming on it while on the road, but not a lot. I'm looking to spend between $1000 - $1500. I live in TN, so if you suggest Dell or NewEgg, I will have to pay taxes (+10%).
I'm into PC's not laptops. Also I will need 2 Gb of RAM and a large hard drive. AMD or Intel will be fine. Battery life is not that important.
That's about it... any suggestions?

That is a tough one being that you knocked out dell. I have always built my own PC's but I am on my forth dell notebook and have been happy with everyone of them. If you have a relative out of state you could always get them to buy it and send or ship it to you. May even consider building one if you want to try and game on it.

I've done that before with other things. Unfortunately when i have probelms with the things I buy, it then becomes a nightmare to send back. it's just a hassle.
I hate to say this, but anyone here ever use an HP notebook? I personally dislike HP computers, but it seems their notebooks may be okay. Anyone?

Just got my first laptop 2 weeks ago after doing alot of research and I love it. The 17 inch screen is great and it works great. Might want to also read other peoples reviews almost rated all fives. You might want to call them and ask for more RAM because it come with 512. I have one suggestion: be logical about how you plan to use the laptop. If it's the kind of situation where you mostly be using it in an office type of setting and you will almost always be using it on a spacious desk with power available, then get the big screen monster desktop-replacement type of laptop. If the reality is you will be lugging it around all day, using it in non-office type settings (outside, on planes, etc), often with no AC power source available, then don't compromise on a big laptop that will still play BF2, instead get a nice small, lighweight power efficient model. You'll thankyourself in the long run.

Great link Jackal. I still have to pay taxes, but right at $1000 it's in my price range.
Good suggestion Cavalierlwt. I dont think I will have to carry it around too much. I think I might travel a bit more with my family this year and then I could work on the road. Not sure how much work I'll be able to do while I'm with my family.
I may play some games, but the laptop will be mainly for work.
