Beach 24/7 lute regen feedback
Greetings folks.
Just curious what you all think of the new lute regen restrictions.
Just to get some facts straight: Ammo now only takes 1/8th of a bar instead of 1/4. Grenade packs only take 1/4 instead of a full bar. Smoke grenades 1/4 instead of 1/2.
Personally, I think it's great to cut down on the airstrike spam--and that coming from somone who now SUCKS because of it. (my kill ratio is lower than a person who butts into a coffee-line-up {that's a Canadian joke--y'all down south of Igloo country don't take to the Java like us hosers}).
Also, it's tough at the begining as a lute with only 32/32 ammo. AND a bunch of freaks whining "I need ammo. I need ammo" right out of the spawn. Speaking of which, I need to bind something along the lines of "You're a beach sniper? Here's a little green bucket and a trowel. Go play. Ammo is for the front-line men."
I see the role of a lute as pinning/interdiction-fire for the meds and soldiers to make their dash. Kind of hard to do with an ammo belt that would barely girdle a gerbil.

Still getting used to the differences. Now, it is a MAJOR frustration to have a crappy team on allies. No fun at all.
However, now you can lose MUCH easier with a crappy axis team. I haven't been on too much when the server was full, but I wasn't on during those times much before either.
My numbers are down a lot because of the changes, but that's just a matter of adaptation, I guess. Medics are a pain, but if you retreat a lot, you can get 'em.
I guess if want to rain death from the skies, I'll just have to find another server.
One thing: was points for airstrikes changed, too? There was one game where it had just started pretty much(everybody had like 25 or less points), I threw a strike and took out like 5-6 people. I had like 5 points before I threw and kept watching the points and my score only went up by 1 or 2 over a couple minutes.... was it just a glitch?

Like it. You must use more skill and grenades. I almost always play a Lt, though when landing on the beach I am a sniper or engineer till the wall or door goes down. More teamwork. Better action, it is almost like a new game for me. Still turn around after spawing at the front bunker to hand out ammo packs as running for the stairs or ladder, just a habbit. Will take a while to break that one.

I'm getting used to the change, but I still wish we started with just enough energy to drop two packs of ammo from the start. Much like Keekanoo, I have people running up to me all the time asking for ammo from the start and not only can I not provide it to them, I only have two clips for myself.
Oh and I have to ask a total n00b question now, I only just noticed people dropping grenade packs yesterday while we played airstrip2...what is the command/bind to drop them?

/gp = grenade pack /sg = smoke grenade I've bound both of them. gp goes to 'p' so I can push it while running using my fingers on the arrows for up/down/side, that way I can toss them out on the fly. I don't see many other people doing it. Guess it's kind of a new thing. I love giving them to good players cause I know they'll make good use of them. I spam like hell with them now, I have to admit. Fill myself up with 15 (limit for lutes) and just spam a choke-point somewhere. It's kind of crummy playing, but it creates a lull for my side to pick it's pieces up, so to speak :p

I personally like the new LT settings. Now, if only there were a way to make the ammo packs like the med packs in that you would be able to run over them w/o picking them up if your ammo full. HINT HINT
The grenade packs are great, and at olny 1/4 bar, you can set out 4 for every full meter bar. 16 ammo packs per full meter bar is also not too shabby. Plus, without all of the airstikes, I have noticed that the lag spikes I used to get with all the smoke and screen shaking is almost non-existant.
So here it is, on a full charge LTs can dish out:
16 ammo packs or 4 grenade packs (athough you have to type /gp after each drop) or any combination in between. I'll let you all figure the combinations out.
It may take a little longer to get your bar charged so that you can let loose one of those your-name-filling-killbox airstikes, but at least your teammates will not run out of ammo, plus it makes the airstrikes a little more effective, for peeps seem to forget about them once they don't see them anymore.

On this new fun beach 2 map, I like the LT settings so far.
Start with zero bar, 16 packs per bar, with fairly quick charge time for airstrike. (I think that's what it is...)
This seems to discourage airstrike spam, which can lag the server, but then also doesn't totally eliminate them either. This seems to me to be a good balance.
Now if only that one axis spawn point was a little more sheltered so the allies couldn't just bombard it with bodies... great firefights though....

my killratio is now way higher then before the noobs have trouble to kill me caue they don't know how to pick up ammo and they don't get ammo from luits cause their names are noobb padawan etc. so i like it if you are tired and you want to have a high kill ratio then its harder cause throwing airstrikes was really chilling
