Nintendo WII info revealed
from ve3d.com
Ahead of Nintendo's Japanese press conference, that kicks off in an hour or so, comes word from The New York Times that the console will be launching in North America on November 19th and cost $250:
In the box you get the Wii console, console stand, sensor bar for the Wii remote, sensor bar stand, two AA batteries (rechargable?), Nunchuck controller attachment, Wii remote and hand strap (so you don't launch it half way across the room while throwing your hands around like a big girl when playing Wii Tennis), an AC adaptor, an Audio-Video cable, and some lovely promotional leaflets, along with the manual of course.
30 Virtual Console Games will be available at launch, costing between $5 and $10.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will launch alongside the console in Japan, along with 15 other titles.
Reports from the Japanese conference indicate that Wii Sports will not be a bundled title over there.
A new trailer advert thingy for the Wii can be watched here.

You can buy Wii points... something like 2,000 for $20. You can then spend Wii points on things like an Opera browser or classic games (NES, SNES, N64, TurboGrafx16, etc ). The price points for those games are:
NES 500 Wii points
SNES 800 Wii points
N64 1,000 Wii points
Basically, that works to something like $5, $8, or $10 for those games.
Regular Wii games (games developed for the Wii console) are to be $49.99 (some have already been anounced at $39.99).
Also, keep in mind, it can play every GameCube game out there too.
Sounds pretty cool to me.

True... if all you are interested in is playing the old school games, then emulators are the way to go.
But, (1) the Wii is being marketed with the casual gamer in mind who doesn't even know that emulators for PCs exist and (2) you can't play any Wii games with an emulator (not yet, anyways
).
There are always going to be the PC Games vs Console Games arguments... I happen to enjoy both.

I'd pay the small amount of money for a controller over a keyboard. We are not talkign about FPS games, some of these are designed with a digital + pad and a total of two buttons to play.
Oh, and anyone else have a desire to play Kid Icarus again? Man, that game rocked!

I love listeing to my best friend aruging over his 360 that its never gonna crash...HE SAYS PSP BETTER THEn Comps so sad
Anyway i dobut they will make FPS for Nintendo Game Cube has no FPS all mario and zelda games..

$250, which is about £130 which is the cheaper then a portable console like the PSP, so when you compare it to what should be its main rival, the PS3 that will cost about £420.
Plus that great controller gives a great Unique selling point, and i would love to see games like Dynasty warriors on it.
Here's a trailer.

Wii points and XBOX360 marketplace points are the biggest and most blatant profit sponging scams ever in the game industry.
But I have to hand it to them as being a very very clever method to nickel and dime the playerbase. Just like Disney Dollars, it doesn't feel like real money plus having to divide by 100 to convert to dollars will keep 30% of the customers clueless about what things really cost.
They also get to resell old junk in addition to making "new" sequels of above mentioned old junk.
"New" Super Mario Bros anyone? x
Brilliant.

gee has NIN. learned yet, never any new games, market is for little kids, I'm sure Mario Bro's and friends will appear in 85 percent of the titles, I agree with ZRX same thing same thing, they really need to go back to Marketing School, they should of thought about this when Playstation I kicked there ass, never gonna compete in today's market, way to much on the console horizon, and with Computer and vids cards being their all time low, enter PC gaming into the market as well, say BYE NIN move over for things that are way more interactive and much more fun
Wow just saw the the preview wow, tell me if I wrong but this is the best of the best when it comes to game play, and graphics right????
I wouldn't spend 20 bucks on this crappy console
and if I got the games for free
matter of fact I wouldn't even D/L an emulator for it
Turbo Graphics 16 anyone, links, or coleco vision thats what it reminds me of
LOL at the controller, there has been numerous attempts at controllers like this, and they ALL failed
Huge in JAP of course, USA sales will hit rock bottom
If I was ever to buy a console (whicj I never would), would be the PS3 and a close second would be X box, if that means anything
Reminds me of kids collecting cartoon poon, never understood that either
