I installed Rome Total War, played 1 game then uninstalled. Not because it was bad but because it was dangerous. That 1 game took me the best part of a weeks solid play.

Way waaay too addictive...

I had one city assault that lasted for about 20 hours. I did finish the single player storyline on hard and did some online stuff. Then I gave the game to a friend as a sort of rehab move.

I can't wait. I actually hope the campaign t is a little shorter than RTW. I have spent so much time playing Rome.

I conqured All of Western Europe and bits and peices of North Africa before the game had enought nerve to say that I lost because of people rebellions against me. Bastards.

i cannot wait either, this has been one of the only other game series that can pull me away from BF2 (the other being Empire Earth I & II). has anyone played the "alexander" pack for Rome: Total War?

I haven't. Is it any good?

I also liked the Barbarian Expansion. Actually this whole series has been good. The engine itself was used on the History Channel for one of their programs, can't recall which one it was though.

Selucid Empire FTW.

It was hard having Egypt ^^^ at your back all the time since they kept breaking their treaties. Bunch of snakes in the grass.

yea i took Egypt for the simple reason that few armies could sneak up behind you.....what i wanted to do was take control of the rest of northern Africa.... then build a navy to block the romans... but what is last bit of Africa holds sooo many rag-tag bands rebel armies... and rioting... to was nearly impossible.

the franks and the saxsons are really cool. i can't wait to play this new one, if you can believe it all the individual units will be different from each other and they'll be 3D.

This game looks sweet, as in, way way way too much of a distraction from all the stuff that I'm supposed to be doing sweet. I hope they tweaked the naval game/trade route system this time though, taking over coastal regions and spamming the ports with my dinky little longboats/caravels and running up a surplus of +20, 000 gold a turn was fun at first but ultimately made the game too easy.
