Oh Snap, Allah figured it out, we can cut millions off of our budget.
With all these so called "News Agencies", we can rid ourselves of those money grubbing "intelligence Agencies" since they get even better information.
People would have to have something to bitch about no matter if Bush had invaded North Korea or Iraq. Think of all the poor innocent Koreans that would have met their untimely doom had we invaded Korea....![]()
Well I have to admit that my views are shaped by the media outlets. I don't include Fox News as a media outlet as they're a propaganda machine with only one point of view in mind. They don't give news, they give opinions and try to belittle anyone who disagrees with them.
When the news agencies have interviews from people doing the work, like in Iraq pre-war. The inspector said, 'There are no weapons of mass destruction.' and 'No evidence of nuclear weapons.' I believe he did his job and is reporting accurate information. Weigh that against the Bush administration's, 'We believe they have wmd's because some ex-Iraqi with a grudge told us so.' While neither side gave direct evidence (I would argue it's much harder to prove weapons don't exist than to prove that they do), wouldn't you go with the professional opinion rather than the person who stands to gain power from the decision? Oh wait.. you wouldn't if you were biased.
I don't know exactly what my stance is on NK in regards to invading. The populace is largely innocent and in really rough shape. The problem really is the leadership and what they choose to do with the limited funds available. Unlike with Iraq, we KNEW for sure, no doubt about his intentions.
This is all public knowledge is really my point. Unless of course you listen to the propaganda put out by the right.

Some intelligence points towards the theory that it wasn’t even a nuke that was detonated. The bombs that India and Pakistan set off a couple of years ago were 25-50 time more powerful. So that means either he shoved a bunch of TNT, C4 and whatever else he could think of in a hole and made a hell of a bang or his yield is very low and they are still working it out. I am sure we will know in a day or two what the deal is. Not to mention, the government has about 100 times the info you, I or CNN has. I hope we all have not gotten so immersed into the news that we think otherwise. I hope some people hatred for bush hasn’t got to the point where they honestly think he is sitting back in a chair taking wild ass guesses while screaming yaaaahoooo "blow them fuckers up, twice". The president of this country has way more info than we will ever have.
I am also sure that we have at least two ballistic missile subs parked close enough to blow the shit out of them in the event they even fueled a missile. We were able to tell if the soviets were fueling missiles in the cold war, don’t you think we can tell what NK is doing now? Hell I can see my house on google earth, (I know it is not live and just a picture). so can you even imagine what the military can see with their sats? Why do you think we have retired all spy planes, lack of money?
In small little world with my limited information I think the answer is simple. China needs to shut off NK's oil supply and we need to tell that crazy little fucker in NK that if he so much as opens a hole in the ground or moved in the wrong direction we will bomb him back to the stone age. NK is in the situation right now not because of what we did to Iraq but more because the US plays the pussy foot game all the time and waits on the worlds approval to take serious action. Please don’t ask me if I think Iraq is serious. People have lost their lives so that makes it serious but nothing like any of the pat wars we have been in. Not even close. When the US gets real good and pissed off then you will see serious. Conventional or non- conventional, we have a ton of power.
Anway, that is the way I look at things. I stopped watching the news about 3 years ago and that includes FOX and CNN.

From what I've read, NK's nuclear test resulted in an 800 ton yield.
That's less than 1 kiloton for those of you scrambling for your calculators. Technically, this qualifies as a "fizzle", which is by definiton;
"an unexpectedly low yield from the detonation of a nuclear weapon. This happens when the weapon comes apart and stops the nuclear reactions before the planned fraction of the nuclear fuels have been consumed. "
At best NK has the makings of a dirty bomb.

I hate Bush, I'll say it up front: but there's nothing Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr. Reagan, or anyone can do or could have done to stop a country from getting nukes if they really want them. I hate to be a pessimist, but every country knows the basics of how to make them, just takes time, money, and resolve. Plenty more countries are going to build nukes, and there's nothing anyone can do. Everyone wants nukes. I notice we are in no hurry to get rid of all our nukes, nor is anyone else. A nuclear bomb is the ultimate ace in the hole. Imagine if Kuwait had a couple of nukes, they would have never had to deal with Saddam invading them.
I'm not saying atomic bombs are a good thing, just that it's easy to see their allure.
Get ready, NK is just the beginning, and it won't be pretty in the end.

When 1/3 of your population is slave labor, you can do a lot.
Reports have NK about to test an H bomb now...

I'll never figure out why we are involved in any way with Korea, north or south. Screw those guys, ignore them and let the chips fall where they may, it's not our problem.

If NK plans on bombing NY he better have a better delivery system in place. Donkeys and arrows have a limited range.
Which points to exactly why I believe China should not put up with this rat. Psycho's like Kim don't listen to reason, they don't sit down at bargaining tables and discuss options rationally. This guy thinks diplomacy consists of spewing nationalistic, chest-puffing threats and beating the war drums.
This guy will listen to nothing and hear nothing except the 248db blast of a thermo-nuke on his capital city.

The solution to this entire problem is deception. You see, you need to be able to retaliate without your enemies knowing that you're retaliating. My solution is to send up some rocket boosters and push some space rocks right into N. Korea. Everyone will think it is an act of God and that will be the end of the situation.

It might not directly affect us. But the trickle down effect will.
Trickle down is nothing. If we got the hell out of there decades ago, we wouldn't give a sh*t what happens there now. IMO, I couldn't give a rat's ass is NK took over SK, or vice versa. Not my problem, the worst thing that happens is the local Hyundai dealership goes out of business.

Well, since you can't change history...It's a lot more complicated than that. South Korea and China are a major supplier of goods and services to the United States and many other countries. You let Korea go by the way-side, and the fallout from that WILL have an impact on our economy and many things you and I take for granted. It's a world economy nowadays. What happens to one country, can have a profound effect on others nations without it being in plain sight.

Let us agree to disagree, I see the world economy as far more robust and flexible than that.

When North Korea tested its nuclear weapons, Kim Jong Il described it as a great leap forward for the Korean people.
However for most Korean people, it was a 2 foot leap in the air.
Of course lets look at this antoher way, it is estimated that NK has just 2 nukes, and could only reach alaska if it was lucky. Now the US has 10,000 nukes, so i dont thnk even Kim Jong Il is that stupid, although i have been wrong before.
