Pfft this sort of shit happens all the time. On both sides. Honestly if you think they'd use this as a casus belli you are nuts. Remember that minor issue of your spy plane getting nabbed by them cos it had to make an emergency landing? Now that was a casus belli to be proud of and neither side acted, because neither side wants to go to war.

Besides last time I checked there's no law against following other shipping in international waters. You might think you own the world's oceans but it doesn't make it true.

Also 5 miles is hardly a close encounter.

Thats a bit scary to know that we didn't pick them up until they surfaced within firing range. Event the attack sub didn't pick them up.

It's a diesel sub. Very hard to spot when submerged and running on batteries. Not much your noisy nucs can do about it except going active which would be suicide.

He with the most toys doesn't always win, and I'm fine with that.

a little unnerving
Wash [as Stegosaurus]: Yes. Yes. This is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it… "This Land."
Wash [as Allosaurus]: I think we should call it "your grave"!
Wash [as Stegosaurus]: Ahh! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Wash [as Allosaurus]: Har har har! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!
[The Allosaurus attacks the Stegosaurus.]
Wash [as Stegosaurus]: Ohhh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

It's not China I'm worried about, it's Iran. (Although China is a potential problem). Iran is one of (if not THE) largest supporter of terrorism. Once they have a nuke... look out world!

Yeah China is scary, but Iran is down right terrifying!!
