I wasn't home at the time, but my wife was (I was wondering why she kept paging me! Ha!) She took the pictures.

The cops were there just for traffic control. A tow truck showed up and winched out the FedEx truck. As you can see in the picture, the white snow makes it hard to tell there is a ditch there at all...there is no difference in contrast between the lawn, ditch, and road.

The Fed Ex guy mowed down one of my driveway reflectors, but they're buying me a new one. Hooray...

I kinda feel sorry for him, actually. I bet he sure got a ribbing back at the FedEx terminal!

FedEx drivers own their own trucks, he might have had to foot the entire bill for it to get yanked and any damage.

Funny thing is...is that I have a U-shaped driveway, so he didn't even really need to back out at all. <shrug>

As far as owning their own trucks. Hmmm...never heard of that before. Are you sure you're not thinking of the big trucks (i.e. the "semi's" or tractor-trailer trucks)? It is common for owners of semi's to contract out with companies to haul for them (the "owner-operators")...

Either way - damages are quite minimal. I don't think the truck was damaged (he drove it away, and certainly didn't go in the ditch hard), and the damage to my driveway reflector...well, I expect they'll be out $5.00. ;)
