We used him to get Parent and a 1st rounder basically. I think its about %50 chance Peter comes back to Philly. I dont think it will happen but right now its up in the air.
Hey Sabres, McGrattan kicked Peters' a$$ and Neil dusted off Mair pretty quickly...some rivalry between the two teams now I would say eh?
Too bad we won't see each other again until the playoffs. I hope that Drury is OK, it was a clean hit by Neil, but you still hate to see anyone get hurt. Cheap stuff by Ruff to send out the goons...but that is what the $10,000 fine was for I guess.
3 out of a possible 4 points is a pretty good home and home for the Sens...

Nice game first of all. I wouldn't say McGrattan kicked Peters' ass though. Peters got a few solid knocks in there too. No blood was drawn from either player. And what's up with Neil? King of the cheap shots I would say. The hit on Drury was about 80% clean in my view if that makes any sense. You know he did it with intention to injure. If that was Sidney Crosby instead of Chris Drury, the league would be in an uproar.Originally posted by Tommy Boy

I'm loving this rivalry now. But it's hard when we have 7 starters out of the lineup. I think you guys should have crushed us this last game but somehow our rookies held it close. Can't wait to play you guys again.

Agreed that for a team of almost 50% AHLers, the Sabres did well...very well. We blew teh lead a few times and you battled back. The fights were good ones and Peters landed one of the hardest punches that I have ever seen on McGrattan, and he didn't go down!! Even I was shocked...he did well to battle back and it was a good bout.
As for Neil, he did try to hurt Drury, but not "on purpose". He tries to hurt everyone he hits with good, hard checks...he is not a dirty player who runs around suckering guys or taking cheap shots, he is just a tough, strong player who hits hard. The hit was exactly 0.48 seconds after the puck left Drury's stick (as painfully timed by TSN) so it was not a late hit....was it a hard hit, absolutely, but it was the ice that hurt Drury more than the hit...the ice caused the cut and the concussion, not the hit itself. I really like Drury and hope that he is OK and back playing soon, but with a helmet and chinstrap done up a bit tighter for protection. I really believe that had his helmet not come off, he would have been out the next shift.
Anyway, a great rivalry has started and it is good, fast-paced hockey which I love to watch. Hard hits both ways and good goals...what hockey fan wouldn't love it?
More to come...

the fire sale continues in philly... trading Calder to Detroit for defensemen Kukkonen and a draft pick, then today trading a draft pick for Marty Biron from the Sabres. Earlier today they obtained Coburn from the Thrashers.
Looks like Esche is def on the way out of philly very soon..

Thanks Tommy Boy!! Ooooohhh I love it !! Great brawl!
You think the fans love it? just listen to the deafening roar the entire time!!
Personally, (as a non-biased fan) I think Neil did give Drury a cheap shot with a shoulder to the head.. Drury being a star player and all, even if the puck just left his stick.
God Bless Lindy Ruff for sending out the goons "Old School" Style !! whhooo hooo.. love it!
Biron and Emery going at it too! I welcome Biron to the Flyers LOL

Keep your head up and you don't have to worry about that. Neil didn't do anything wrong, the buffalo buffalos took exception to because that its one of their better players.
Biron should have gone to an all-male school instead of an all-girl school because there is no pillow-fighting in hockey.

I agree Biron fought like a wimp but your wrong about Neil's hit. It was directed at Drury's head and he left his skates to do so.. = cheap shot. Watch the video again.

If it was an elbow then it matters. Hit w/ shoulder = clean hit.
He didn't leave his skates, he lifted one leg up, his left leg. Completely legal hit. Besides, he was carrying the puck, yes he did shoot the puck but he still was the last player (by milliseconds) to touch the puck, so he is fair game.
If Drury's helmet didn't fly off (which should have been strapped on tighter) then the hit would be on the highlight reel as a big hit instead of a brawl starter anyway.
Additionally, Peters was the piece of shit who broke an unwritten rule of a regular player fighting a goalie...
