...anyone check this out? It's pretty neat. Not very prodcutivity enhancing, but rather well done. Little CPU cycles used.

Your entire Desktop becomes like an animated movie screen. Depending on the quality of the video you're looping, it's quite impressive.

Bring your ass kicking video card to this one, guys and gals.

how do we know if our video card supports Windows Aero?

You can run the Vista Upgrade Advisor.

I've installed Vista on several machines, all older models with heaps of RAM and only one has supported the Aero Interface so far (my current everyday rig will remain Vista free until the driver situation stabilizes). That machine had a relatively mundane ATi 9550 256MB AGP card.

Thing that bothers me, is i don't really want Vista. so why do they make it all you can get when u buy a new pc? They dont give you choice, go to Dell or HP.. jerks..

I think having a video in the background would be a little distracting to me. But I guess it would be relaxing too.

The revolutionary thing about Dreamscenes is the fact that it affects your CPU very little.

Sure 10 years ago you could probably run a 320x480 256-color Desktop video of your cat pissing on your wife's head, but your Mac would have been brought to its knees.

Revolutionary?? Hell, I invented banging two sticks together ryhmically years ago, can I sue U2 for infriging on my copyright?

Dreamscenes requires a hefty video card, but unlike Active Desktop Web content, the affect on your PC's performance is literally negligable.

And you're right Sabres, depending on what video you choose it can be a bit distracting. Most of the Dreamscvene's I've used are very, very subtle...ripples on waves, subtle light affects and very slick looping that makes the video appear to run seamlessly. There are a few videos out there that just don't belong on your Desktop.

That being said, this doesn't help me get work done in the slightest bit. Eye candy, to be sure.

Yeah ripples on waves sounds like a good background. That would be sweet. Or like a rain storm dripping down leaves or something.

lol sure it's negligable if you have the hefty video card. If not it's gonna hammer your system into a pulp. That's like calling a long trip short just because you have a fast car...
