I once read that statistically, only 2% of people just get up and leave their home country behind --assuming we're not talking about a group of people being persecuted.

The upshot of all this: an absurdly high number of Americans carry the risk taking gene known as 'D4-7', inherited from our crazy immigrant ancestors. Basically causes us to do some great things, but also some crazy things: drive like maniacs, shoot each other, etc. Lot's of Nobel prize winners, lot's of mass murderers. This doesn't apply to every single American, but enough of us to skew things into insanity.

No dice, you can't take more risks than the Italians, they don't even stop for red lights they just hit the gas and look for a gap, but even their road fatalities are proportionately lower than yours. What's sad is you don't even win at being the worst drivers in the world. You come 4th after Portugal, Greece and Luxembourg. I mean Luxembourg ffs I didn't even know they had cars, you could walk accorss the whole of luxembourg in a day, it's not fair!

I wonder how the rule applies to out of state drivers? That being said, rules are rules, if you break the rules then you get the punishment. Right Chacal?

Says it doesn't effect out of state drivers. The fines only applies to residents of Virginia. One of the big controversies

Albo and Del. Thomas D. Rust (R-Fairfax), who co-sponsored the fee legislation, project that $65 million to $120 million will be raised annually to cover costs of snow removal, pothole repair and grass-mowing. Money for Northern Virginia's congested roads had to come from somewhere, they reasoned, and new taxes were not going to fly in the GOP-controlled House of Delegates.

I don't get it. Are they wanting people to break the law now. WTF how about trying to solve the problem instead of using one problem to fund another problem. Maybe they should fine people for murder and then hand out loaded guns. Then they can have their mismanaged budget and maybe even lower taxes, which will draw new residents to the state who will... well you see where I am going with this. I might have politics in my future. :freak:  :help:

We're made up of, among others, Italians....just the crazy ones though. Some things do factor in. Traffic law enforcement plays some part. If we didn't stop at redlights, we would all be walking. It's the speeding, drinking while driving, and generally bad decisions that get us killed.
