Need Extreme Help

Postby {AsB}CHARGED » Tue Apr 22, 2003 9:59 pm

Alright, this is lovely! So I was working on my other computer last night, and I smelled something burning, bein the drunkard I am, I didn't think anything of it until I heard the warning of overheating of my idle computer. I shut it off, boot it back up, hear the odd hardware beep, look it up, and realize my processor is bad. The thing is, The model is a Celeron 766 Mhz L2 cache, and the only processor made by Intel Celeron at 766 MhZ, The problem? Well, not only did it fry..but I'm low on cash, and I only have about $35 for the next two months to spend on computer parts...I was wondering if ANYONE could find any information on why hell this model of the celeron chip is actually more expensive then most of the 1.2's and up......

someone help me out, gimme a link, let me know why, etc etc

Whats the max your board can take? The 766's cost about 40 and the 1.2's cost about 25. Can your board support the voltage for the 1.2 and above?

a 700 celeron at http://www.pricewatch.com for 45$, also try calling emachines and telling them to tell you what exact kind of chip you need. they should be able to tell you.
