Ya a bit but looks like fun and I like the idea of being able to destroy everything.

Re: New Battlefield
Maybe I'm just biased, or plain wrong, but I honestly think EA/Dice could have released a converted version of BF1942 using the BF2 engine and done pretty well with it. It would probably be a piece of cake for them to convert the old units/equipment/maps, and just kick it out to us. I'm not holding my breath for the FH2 mod.

Re: New Battlefield
Just saw this posted at Total Battlefield 2...
Although nothing official, it sounds pretty limiting with only 8 maps mostly urban. Although just rumors though.. I rather see big open maps with no jets
A tipster sent us PDF document which looked like an outline of features for Battlefield 3. The three page document is apparently prepared for investors which should get it by December of this year. It details basic features of BF3, and are as listed:
• Release in late 2008
• Powered by “Frostbite DX”
• Set in year modern day (just like BF2, ed.)
• Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
• Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
• Same “ticket-based” gameplay style as before
• Maps are mostly urban, based in Middle East
• Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are “Battalions” which consist of three to four squads.
• Five playable classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support
• Will feature 48 different vehicles (24 for each faction)
• Will feature 34 different weapons (17 for each faction) and another 22 unlocks (for both factions), in total 56 different weapons.
• Other unlocks include different types of ammunition, body armor, helmets, camouflage and accessories.
• Possible public beta in “Summer 2008″
• Online stats tracking, awards and “real world ranks”
• “Soldier” feature, looks like MMO-styled characters and avatars
• Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships (for testing, apparently, ed.)
• In-game replay and recording feature
• VoIP, friends list, in-game IM-client and “extensive clan support”
• Built-in auto software updater (no more patches!, ed.)
• Widows Vista and OS X (no XP?!, ed.)
• Announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008.

Re: New Battlefield
scratch about half(if not more) of thase features that "won't be in the initial release, but will come later(AKA NEVER)".
seriously, no XP WTF? EA you are the stupid!
80 players in a map, yeah right, this time in the dev process for BF2 it was "over 100 players" so make 80 more like 32.
EA heres nothing when we complained about China ot having an Urban map, so lets just get rid of them all together....
"Battalions", wow will that ever flop, when only one in 20 squad leaders has VOIP, and probably 1 in 50 battalion commanders has it, the chances are good that it will suck!
"Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships (for testing, apparently, ed.)" RIGHT................... I will believe that when I hear it happens and the game releases with no bugs!

Re: New Battlefield
well we already know 4 of the 8 maps, Karkand, Sharqi, Mastuur, and Jalabad.
Add another 4. Re-skin the US soldiers to NATO. Keep the same MEC forces. Take the Chinese weapons and current unlocks, for the unlocks....
And

Re: New Battlefield
Eh, if you look at the players who log the most time in ranked servers, you see certain trends - most of them have the majority of their rounds on Karkand, Sharqi, and Mashtur, with more recent ones playing Jalabad (dirka dirka). So they're sticking to the hard core gamers and figuring the others will follow. All they need to do is sell the initial box - whatever happens after that doesn't really matter to them.
