Do you know a solution?

Postby Sheisse (Qc) » Mon Apr 28, 2003 7:57 pm

I've benn having this probleme for a few weeks. When I play rtcw, there are some internet pop up ads. Sometime it only lag me for a few sec, but other time, it makes my computer crash.
I was wondering if any of you have the probleme and if you solve it. I've heard of anti pop up programs, but never seen one.
PLEASE HELP I cant stand being disconected so often:( :( :(

Internet pop ups? Shut internet explorer/kazaa etc.

Sounds more like it's Window's messaging service though.

Windows 2000/NT

Click Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Windows XP

Click Start->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Get AdAware and run it on your system, you prolly got some spyware running...

I use SpyBotSD and NoAds.

Both do the job well.

Ok..not Windows Messaging Service then (only Win2000+)

Get SpybotSD as above.

Alternatively it might be WinPopup...
in which case

Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Windows Setup Uncheck WinPop.

but SpybotSD will be your best bet
