and not to sound like an elitist prick, although i am one, but out of the players that want ONLY beach, none of them are halfway decent.

i think anyone with dedication to the game and decent skill would want to play the game as it's intended by playing other maps.

Why not put the HERB BEACH on the server? It's the same beach just a bit bigger, I'm sure people would love it? Maybe try it on Christmas day or something, give people time to prep for it and then go from there.

i wouldn't really mind but my issue isn't with the map beach itself. it's just playing it constantly over and over.

For those who want map rotations...

Lately I'm on almost every night, around 12:00-1:00 a.m. Eastern Time to about 2:00-3:00 a.m. Eastern Time (or later). I do try to do map rotations if there are enough people on who want to play different maps.

I cycle among Base, Chateau, Ice and Castle, with Destruction, Village, Assault, UFO or Keep occasionally thrown in if people request them. I keep wanting to do Depot sometime, just for kicks, too. Maps other than these tend to drive people from the server, especially Kung Fu and Tram, so I won't do those.

I can understand your point on the matter Cateye, but if you really are that against rotations, is it really the community's issue? At what point do you tell someone to grow up and learn to play other maps like a team? Just today (or last night, i was drinking and probably forgot which was which) someone got overjoyed when it went to beach b/c "it involves no teamwork." Can you say its fun to have 20+ players on beach lobbing nades all the time?

I respect MAA's descision about keeping it a Beach server, he pays for it and I don't, I'm just a guest here. But when the mentality of players (MANY of which get bitched out by the admins for their atrocious and selfish minded play) is just carefree to the reckless demise of their team, how is that fun? It's a bitch enough that Shonuff and Koss (B) are too fucking retarded to aim when they shoot, throw nades, etc. and players here lose lives, but if you do the same to them, they fire off as they are little kids being robbed of candy. Not really fair they TK b/c they are careless, but if you get mad at someone for it, ooooooohhhhhhh no!

I don't necessarily disagree with you Nubz, but I also would like to give a *little* more credit to most of those who prefer Beach: I don't think it's because they don't want to be team players, or are afraid of other maps or any other reason than they prefer it. *I* prefer Beach; I'm really not a very good player, and Beach is a pretty forgiving map if you're shitty. Somehow I still have fun playing it after 8 years, otherwise I would've deleted the game ages ago. But, I also don't resist changing maps just because someone bitches at me, "It's beach 24/7 for a reason! Don't change maps!" ... that's silly. It's beach 22 hours a day. There's no reason to get all butthurt because I want to throw a bone to the players who like other maps for a couple hours late at night.

Experiments with automatic rotations in the past have never worked well, and I sincerely doubt we'll ever try that again. So this situation represents the fairest -- and only -- way to serve what is still a remarkably diverse set of regulars in terms of skills, preferences and styles.

I know what you mean, but there's a difference between a "bad player" and a noob cateye. I mean, you know a number of things about this game: the layout of a map, how to give health packs, giving cover fire, etc. It is more the mindless nature that is selfish in my opinion, ya know? Things that some players just ignore b/c they don't really care about the rest of the game; Headshot doesn't really care about a blind panzer shot b/c he always thinks some Axis will be on upper base; Shonuff doesn't care to lob a nade b/c he doesn't look, just toss in and off I go! Playing like that is what I mean.

On the other hand, yeah, I agree with you that the love of 1 map is big here. And I think that if you took 1 day, a full 24 hours to use a rotation on the server, would not be a problem. It would ease the request to change maps mid-day, not requiring an Admin to use their playing time as a referee of the maps. Make it a set-in-stone day that everyone knows what they are going into. How hard is it to understand that every Wednesday 12am to Thursday 12am the server rotates. If you do not care to play, your choice. But if people know it, and plan for it/around it, it is not a huge inconvience whereas I assume players you hear complaints from tell you they sign on to their lovely Beach map server and the admin changes it as soon as they arrive.
