Re: The Missing Element of Fun
Just a year ago, before i took a long break, the server could go all night. Numbers might at times get really low, im talking 2v2 or 4v4 but then it would pick back up. Now most nights i log on at 2am or 3am to an empty server. Why do you think this is? I honestly dont know, I'm seriously asking a question as i have not been around to know. But since i have been back, ive seen the things i have mentioned above in my post. At first glance i have to lean towards the fact that a handfull of people would rather run the server dry for some kind of odd enjoyment rather than try to keep a game server healthy that we all have gotten so much entertainment and fun out of over the years.
I dont think im a weak player but im average and i try to be the responsible one. I dont shy away from the challenge when it comes to keeping people on the server. The server goes down most nights around 2-3am now, how early will it be 6 months from now or a year from now. I'm only trying to keep the game alive, cant fault me for that.
I mainly only play nights so my observations come from these times. Most players latenight are not as you describe. I imagine during the days there are alot of craptastic players and chatty kathy's but the latenights has alot of skilled players and so my post is directed to them for the most part.

But in the world you have just described, all the good players are on one team and all the "bad" are on the other and that is fun for the good players how? In most posts, when the good players talk about all the time they put into their configs and the hours of play they have invested in this game, why then, would they want to spend all that "hard work" on shitty players. All that time and hard work so you can camp a spawn. Doesnt make sense to me.
If you want a challenge, which is what i imagine everyone has wanted at some point, especially the good players, then switch and see what you got. I find it simple. But then again, im me.
No you really do bring up a very good point. Personally I stay on a team that outnumbers the other only when the opposing team just got beat fair and square and all the assholes on the team rage quit. At least finish the round. Otherwise, I always try and join the team that needs help. It's like nobody cares that you killed Mr. Dogday, Vaden, and SS Maria you know? LOL!!!
The biggest gripe I have with the "elite" OSP players is that they only play for frags. They think running around mindlessly or "quaking" it up with superior aim is the end all be all. That's why the ECGN all stars team got their asses handed to them in the 2012 Mayan Apocalypse tournament. lol
Playing like and adult and playing for the objective would make this server so much more enjoyable. There's my 2 cents anyway.

Re: The Missing Element of Fun
3:30 a.m. and server just now had 7 axis vs 4 allies and axis takes flag, nuff said. I switch sides to allies and win it after being beat down for 5 min. Now its 2v2 on server GG. This on a friday night when a year ago it would be hoppin round now. Everyone get dates?
Re: The Missing Element of Fun
Wish I could wash super's kitty while watching the ECGN Allstars play in the Mayan tournament. Something tells me at that point I wouldn't care about the server.

I play for partial objective. Meaning I clear paths and generally aim to increase the amount of map area controlled by allies but I don't go for docs nor do I directly clear a path for the doc carrier unless it's an early push to the wr with someone who isn't retarded and it will be fun to push radio against a swarm of axis. Why? Because I get no enjoyment out of getting one manned in the basement or having my teammates constantly shoot me in the back, flame me, spam nades on me, and watch me get gibbed while I try and push into basement barracks. Trying to push out of box room as allies is miserable and it has nothing to do with the axis players.
As for stacked teams, it's boring regardless of the side I'm on. Sometimes I switch but when I look at the playerlist and see that the allies are made up of people who never push, why bother? I can clear all of side stairs and as I move back down from upper to fight the axis i killed who low spawn I'll get tkd by a nade through the window. The issue of stacked teams has little to do with higher skilled players and more to do with the temperament of the mid-skilled/low-skilled players. I'd rather be on a team with rcf yankee who actually stands still in fire fights but always pushes, never tks me and can revive than someone like illicit who is a much better shot but will never push against the other team, instead opting to stand on a corner of an area map held by his team. The problem is when allies is made up of all illicits and snafus who simply sit on grass and spam nades and a/s.
I don't know how to fix. Calling people idiots and telling them to push in all caps doesn't work, so I'm out of ideas.

ms.b went crazy with power basically. nothing new. i decided to retaliate and eventually it was turned into a firewall ban. yes i evaded my ban numerous times as well as talked shit, which made it worse for myself. what can i say...i have principles and i would do it again. however anyone who's a fair and unbiased admin i have no problems with.

Well if you made it that far already why rush barracks instead of WR? I find that controlling the docs does a lot more for controlling the whole map and can sometimes shift the entire momentum of the round to the Allies's favor. I haven't been doing this as much recently, but if Axis has upper and I can get to the docs, I'll just stay in WR and hold it as long as possible. Most of the time Allies can take upper while Axis is under the threat of being capped.
Of course you're probably talking about when Allies already controls upper and Axis has been pushed all the way back to barracks and WR. Again, if you made it that far you're still most likey going to die going either way. You have more of a chance at controlling the situation by rushing WR. I like rushing that cute little cart by the doorway leading to barracks. I control that area for a little bit and then follow the first person rushing WR (or I'll just rush WR and hope someone follows me lol).

Cause the challenge is more fun than shredding a bunch of noobs? I don't know that's just me. Now that I think about it more, I really don't care that much about stacked teams. If people are gonna rage quit because they're losing, that's their problem. I just personally like to help the weaker team whenever I can.

I agree except that you shouldn't be going back down after clearing them stairs. Go get those docs. Basically my point is, if you control the docs, you control the map.

Don't get me wrong. I'd much rather play with OSP players than a bunch of teamkillers. I only call people idiots when teammates shred my ass or blow me up. I made a bind linking to my Gaming Experience Ruiners thread as an attempy to channel my gaming rage lol. I know noone is gonna read it most likely but it's better than insults I guess.

A non-hacker and non-tk'er/disruptor should never get banned these days in this game. Too few players left.
