At this point is really is getting hard to join and not have a bad experience. The rampant trolling are just not what I want to read while playing a game. While ECGN doesn't seem to encourage to these practices, they are certainly tolerated and condoned without repercussion. Disruptive behavior that directly interferes with game play is not tolerated, but feel free to type whatever your favorite slur is for everyone to read. Anyone can join the server right now and have a pretty good chance of viewing players names and chat dialogue more suitable to a school yard than a public game server. These aren't just random people popping into random servers. These are people with years of known displayed behaviors. At this point it really does seem to be a majority of players, Otherwise self policing would work in the form of ignore votes. But the majority of players a majority of time have no problems with it and efforts to censor rarely pass.

If the server is to remain public maybe it's time to hardcore admin the publicly reprehensible out of public view.

Sure, I could turn of chat, but ultimately would I really want to show the sportsmanship required play a game with these types? And what about enjoying the normal people who are fun to play with/against?

And oh BTW, Thank you all, for your time and years of effort in keeping the playground open...

I have seen a guy playing recently named FAGGOTKILLER in front of admins with no repercussion
But at the same time it's just a game and you can turn off chat
Racism and homophobia is prevalent in all online games, go try playing a CoD title on 360
Most of these people aren't actually racist or homophobic, they are just doing it to get a rise out of you

I find some of the language directed at people in the game fairly offensive- how is it ok to insult someone by calling them a Jew? What decade are we in? I don't want to see racial/xenophobic/homophobic slurs directed at anyone, I come to play the game and relax. It happens when admins are on- is there an ECGN policy with regard to this?

It's the internet, where the greater the shock value = the greater the insult. I've personally become desensitized to it, but mostly I just never pay attention to chat. Learn to just not watch the chat and you'll be that much happier.

It's the same 5 idiots doing the same shit everyday, they can't keep their mouths shut...

They bitch, and bitch, and bitch, and bitch, and bitch, and then try to tell Veterans how to play. When they don't get what they want, they spam votes, over and over and over and over again...

They are complete retards every day, but no one seems to care...

If you trimmed the fat, you would make 97% of the people on server happy...The only ones that wouldn't be happy would be silent, and 2 or 3 others of his bum buddies..

These people keep getting banned for good reason, and yet they get their ban removed after 4 or 5 days, WTF?

95% of the server gets along great, and we have lots of fun. People like silent are a CANCER on the server. The only one that will miss him after a permanent ban, is himself...

Unfortunately, he will just get another guid, and pretend he has no idea who silent is...

Mkay, maybe not in the case of msb, but she's not that evil ;-) Turning off chat has a nasty side effect: you won't get noticed about stuff happening, like short/long whatever.

If we vote those dirtymouths off, they will learn very fast. Imo.

You can just do /cg_teamchatsonly 1
Most of the language is in global chat, not team chat
And you will still be able to see stuff like short or long
