Engineer- Non Appealing

Postby Conscious* » Tue Jul 01, 2003 8:29 pm

I think something should be added to make an Engineer
a more appelaing class to axis, and the allies after they
blow the see wall, and the FbunkerDoor, if you read my
post in the disguises thread i stated that i think they
should be able to disguise as an enemy and that having
8 nades would help,....read my disguises post for details.

I agree. The Engineer is not a fully developed class. Pontoon-bridging capability, with a team of chirpas to carry those heavy bits of 'thingy's'. Special ability to see in the dark, making it the only character class that can actually see anything on the many too-dark maps in Wolfenstein. Plus the special 'shades' the Engineer would wear would make him the coolest looking guy in Wolf.
The ability to dispense nade pacs.
Able to dispense armour.
Able to dispense c-4 or some other plantable charge--claymores for example.
Massive explosion when killed (oweing to all the dyno he carries) that wipes out anything in a dynamite like radius.
Ability to carry an explosive pac, with special high-pitched terrorist scream as he charges into the enemy command head-quarters.
Ability to throw a noxious gernade, something like mustard gas or perhaps a gas which causes the 'slap' affect.

Uhm...that's about all I think of after having had a nap.

All kidding aside, I do think the class, even though they have a ton of nades, lacks punch. A replenishing nade-supply at the very least. Makes as much sense as the meds being able to revive/lay med-pacs.

lol at mustard gas...funny idea, be funny as shit to test it for a game (snicker), but yea i think the should be given an ability to plant MG42, and have the charge bar, must be full and it charges as fast as a leuitants bar, and something like each team can only plant like 3 a game...what do you think of that guys

Eng. Class is kind of weak, but I do know some people that know how to plant dynamite during the duration of the game.

Things to improve :
1) Health 140/ Regeneration (Like Medic)
2) 30/60 (Initial Ammo)/ Add 30 Ammo every 60 Seconds
3) 20 sec. Fuse on Dynamite

Just Some Ideas.

yea i think they should be able to plant dynamite for 10 seconds, 20, or 30 seconds without pliers in an area free of an objective such as sea wall and forward bunker door

I have been pushing for this idea for a long time ever since I tried to think of a way to make them more wanted.

You take half damage from panzers/grenades when you have an engineers blast jacket on. After you are hit by a grenade or panzer, the jacket comes off and you need a new one. Engineers only have a limited supply of them though. Maybe one or two per life as you can't set your whole team up with a jacket. Team would be almost unstoppable if they could give out unlimited. Also, give them an innate ability to take less damage from blasts too. Perhaps a permanent blast jacket that never comes off.

Another idea I had was bullet poorf jackets for soldiers. Playing a regular soldier with a gun has no meaning. If you were to add extra armor type items on soldiers they would be more desireable to play. Unlike the bomb jackets, this jacket would not come off the soldier. It would instead act like the innate blast jacket of the engineer. The soldier would only take half damage versus bullets to the torso all the time. Sort of like an innate ability to absorb damage. Maybe even add a special helmet to their head where it cannot come off.

That sounds like great idea they should have armor.

having a helmet on your head does not protect you, Wolfenstein for dummies states that clearly.... even though you do get ur helmet back when you receive an ammo pack froma lieutant...blast jacket is a good idea

They had this in any banimod servers. Now they have a grenade carried by spies which causes the 'slap' effect like keek stated. If you want to check it out, a good server is 'Oldcrow's Banimod.'

The 'slap' grenade looke like a normal grenade. Type /spy in the console and youll spawn as one. Works with /scout and /co (commanding officer w/ shotgun) too. But you probably all already knew this.

Bullet-proof panzer-jocks. EEEeeeyyuucckkk. There would be screams to up the panzer limit so every noob could get one and do his suicide routine with impunity. Calls for 'I need a jacket....I need a jacket' would echo incessantly in 60 homes across the World.

Whole legions of engineers would appear--recently graduated noobs--handing out flak-jackets on the beach.

I'm going to cry....

actually i find eng to be a good class, if the server has landmines and trip mines enabled, i find it more entertaining. if it's just dyno, then yeah i agree that it is boring, but the nade count is cool :P

Like I mentioned earlier add some kind of weapon's perk.
Like a refillable ammo supply or something.

lol 60 home across the world..i still like the idea of them being able to make a MG42 or .50 Caliber machine gun nest WITH sandbags....they should need full bar..and start with nothing in the charge bar..and increase at the same rate as a lieutanant....i think that would add a great dimension to the game
