have any experience with some or all of these components used together in a system? thought i'd ask before i pull the trigger and buy them. opinions welcome.

-Antec 430W Power Supply TRUE430 ATX Form Factor, ATX12V compliant for Pentium 4 $89.99

-ASUS Motherboard for Intel Pentium 4 / Celeron Processors, 800Mhz FSB Model# P4P800 Retail $119.99

-Intel 2.4C 800 FSB processor $147 retail.

-CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, (Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) PC-3200C2PT matched pair CAS2. the timings are 2-3-3-6 t1 $228

-Viewsonic G220F 21" monitor :D $465 including shipping

-i already have an 80GB Maxtor 7200 rpm 8mb cache hardrive, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard, ATI 9700 Pro videocard.

-the OS will be Win XP Pro

excluding anti-Intel comments, whatcha think about this setup?

it should fly...

also with that type of Corsair memory, you will be leaving treadmarks in the carpet.

Now all you need is a Sony DVD-RW and an Antec case.... and floppy too..

thanks for the reply. forgot to mention that i do have an Antec case (1040), a floppy drive and a rebadged Lite-on 52x48x52 CD burner which me cost me $20 courtesy of Staples. :D

All of those brands are rock solid reliability wise, and pretty speedy to boot... Only question is what type of chipset that board runs... you should stick with intel chipsets for P4 systems IMO...

the Asus p4p800 mobo uses the Intel 865PE (Springdale) chipset.

Sannop, I'm getting the monitor from http://www.techonweb.com, the CPU from Staples(yes, Staples sells components). Staples wanted $235 for that chip, BUT i price matched them to Newegg which brought the price down to $165, then used a $30 off $150 coupon which can easily be found on the internet. everything else i am buying from http://www.newegg.com they have decent prices, fast delivery and outstanding customer service.
