Damn Cigarettes
Well, here I go again. I went out yesterday and bought some patches again. They've worked before, so I'm trying again. It's now 26+ hours without a cigarette, and I guess I'm doing fine.
I know what some of you are thinking...what good is that patch if I started smoking again? The patch only goes for like 6-8 weeks, whereas I started smoking again after a year and a half away from them...basicly, my own damn weakness is at fault.
So if any of you out there are trying to quit cigarettes, maybe we can make this our own little support thread. Good luck to us all.

Good luck!
I am one of those smokers who only *needs* to smoke when around smokers, when I'm drinking, or under SEVERE stress.
Luckily for me, for the most part I have been able to conquer the first compulsion. One day I hope to be completely rid of all these compulsions.
Other than that I can take them or leave them.

Yo Doug! Keep up the good work. I know you got a baby in the works so I think quitting right now is very prudent. I smoked until I was 21 or 22, it took about a year or two for me to fully quit. What really made the difference for me was that I started to train for Marathons and swimming. So, that advice may or may not help you. All I can say is that I've been there, I know what it feels like to have your whole body yearn for just one tobacco puff (sorry). It's really hard at night too, when you know it would be just so nice to go out and smoke a cig in the dark.. Oh shit, I still want to smoke....(CREEECHHING HALT). Never mind that. Basically I suggest whenver you get a need for a fix that you go out and run, or exhaust yourself doing pushup and then drink a glass of water. And also smoke only a few cigs a day. If you slowly wean yourself off it will feel much better, and you wont have to kill yourself with self restraint. If you do it the way I suggested, pretty soon ciggarettes will start to taste bad, which is what you want, and then it will be easy to quit.

I tired and failed and tired and failed and tired and failed, I hate nothing more then trying to quit but guess what, I keep trying and trying and trying, each time using new tricks. So if I can keep trying, so can you, I believe in you man especially cause you already quit once. good luck, best wishes, and o el cid, you are great =D

I've been trying to quit again myself for the last month and a half. In general, I am doing pretty good, at least up to drink no. 5 when I start to get the urge. I had one relapse, but I was drinking heavily that weekend. Have you tried the gum (either the real Nicorette or the Wallgreens brand)? I've found that it actually helps me when I do feel like I need one.
