Buli: Sure you may master everything, but there is a LOT more to the game than mastering your professions! Starting or being in a guild is very challenging. Having battles between guilds or Rebel vs Imperial battles are awesome.

SWG is worth the $15/month. I can hardly stop playing it. Me and a few friends are planning to build a player run city for our guild. It's going to be so much hard work, but it'll be worth it.
I'd have to agree. I don't play the number of hours I did in the beginning but there are a couple of redeeming qualities for me.

When you team-up with others, it's SO much more fun. Getting a group of people that have common goals and help each other succeed is the key to having fun in this game. I never fail to have fun when I join in a game.

Also, the space expansion will literally create an entire new dimension to the game. Being able to do space battles is what Star Wars is all about to me.

There's also something to be said for no smackers. For whatever reason, of the hundreds of people that I've run into in this game, I've run across a grand total of ONE idiot who was there to start sh*t.

Duh, I never even considered that as being a factor. Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious to me.

On the other hand, the first 30 days were free to all and I still noticed a lack of smack(ers). Maybe paying $50 for only 30 days of grief wasn't enough of a reward.

This does not apply to all "pay to play" sites. There are griefers on most of these places too. :( Usually they will kill you and take your stuff.

In one game I played, a griefer would make you accidentally kill them which would make you 'evil', you automatically went to a negative reputation. Then anyone who wanted to, could kill you without any reprisals and take your stuff. If you killed them your reputation would go even lower, making it harder to get a positive reputation again. Needless to say, I did not play this game very long with such a serious flaw.

I have not played SWG so do not know what ways it would be possible to grief.

I'm into the MMORPG's. I loved EQ and Dark Age of Camelot. Furthermore I'm looking forward to EQ2.

But the last 3 online monthly payment type games I've played have all sucked!

(Shadow Bane, Planetside and now SWG).

If anyone wants these games and is willing to pay shipping, I will send you the games.. no strings attached.

As far as I'm concerned, I just threw $40 out the window for each game.:wall:

If anyone wants one of these games then send a private email to me.

If a person were determined enough to ruin people's games, they could go place-to-place convincing others to let them join their hunting parties. Once on the hunt, the griefer could attack targets that would certainly guarantee the death of the entire hunting party. Attacked targets tend to get their revenge on the entire party, not just the initial attacker.

Once the hunting party caught on to the griefer, they could kick him out but then he's on to the next unsuspecting group.

Ahh!

You can't kill other players unless:

a) You both accept a duel, to the death or not

b) You are an overt member of a faction (Rebel or Imperial) and can only be attacked by another overt member of the opposite faction.

SWG is sweet. I love it, you get a patch every day almost.

I'll be happy to pay to play if it is the right game. I had hoped WW2Online would be that game, and it is't. Planetside wasn't either. DAoC never did it for me.

If only someone coudl take the concept of WW2Online(which is a great concept) and actually bring that concept to reality, I will be the first signing up.

Sadly, I see the 'online battlefield' not happening. Newer games that are int eh BF42 styles(shooter, ground/sea/air vehicles) are coming out of the woodwork. Joint Operations looks like it could be a huge sleeper hit. HL2 of course. STALKER. There was another game I read about on IGN that was gunning for 128 player maps.

I gotta say, when we reach the point of 128 player maps, teh novelty of an online battlefield starts to lose it for me. A 128 player map would be huge, and truelly allow for platoons to attack/defend certain areas of the map.

Wish I remembered the name of that game, sounded fun.

Odd how this can be seen as a positive attribute. I guess it means we get continual support which is a good thing. Needing a patch almost daily.....not a good thing.

A lot of MMORPG's get patched this much at first. Even with extensive beta testing, MMORPG's have a much harder time finding bugs.

Through deep investigative research I hypothesize that those that like SWG will say 'yes' you should buy it while those who do not like it will vote 'no' you shouldn't.

As someone who likes SWG, I say 'yes, buy it'. But I married Satan (2nd (and former) wife) so what do I know about good decisions?!?!

You may have to make this decision on your own Grasshopper. :P
