Mangling? (With reference to the ECGN 24/7 Beach Server)
Ok, I believe that this is a very controversial issue. What exactly is the OFFICIAL stance of ECGN with regards to mangling on its 24/7 Beach server. I know that some administrators are indifferent when it comes to the issue, where as some are very critical to the thought. I personally feel it is a form of cheating that is uneccessary; however, mangling can be a humorous event. If not used to "aid in your side's victory", expressed very generally, I feel it is ok. But when it is abused as a cheating technique, a method to give an unfair advantage, I believe a good kicking is in order. The issue is, is there any official grounds outlying a set punishment for it? Any admins wanna lay out their opinion? I know Keek will lay it down for us (i agree with your stance guy!) Thanks.

Mangling, writhing, twisting, break-dancing....whatever you wish to call it, is quite humorous to look at.
It is unfair for reasons I'll get into later. Because it is unfair, the official (by me--sucks, but there it is) stance is DON'T DO IT INTENTIONALLY. Yes, it can happen by mistake.
Here is how it is done. 'Bob' plays dead. 'John' then uses the +salute/crouch/move backwards to drag Bob around. The longer John drags Bob, or the more times Bob plays dead and is dragged, the more 'mangled' his body gets.
I've seen avatars so mangled that they writhe faster than the eye can see. 'Bob' still moves around the map at the normal rate, but his body, twirling horizontal to the ground, looks like a demented cyclone.
Why it's unfair: Head-shots are impossible. It's difficult to move around the avatar. 'Bob' can completely block a stair-well as he's horizontal not vertical. Utopia for blockers. When you come across a twister, it's often, in the heat of battle, difficult to know who's side it is on. It's very hard to make out which class the twister is or what weapon/pack/syringe/dyno etc they have loaded. Finally, it's just confusing--especially for noobs. Not only do they stop in their tracks forgetting the game, but then they spend the next 3 days spamming 'how do I swim, how do I twist how how how how how'. Uber annoying.
So.....about a month and a half ago the admins discussed it and came to the agreement that it's unfair and shouldn't be condoned/allowed. Not all admins were polled--though we did discuss it for several days in one of the other threads. I believe I started that thread--something about twisting.
Yes, it can be done unintentionally. If a medic stands over the person they are reviving and they get 'locked' together temporarily, sometimes the revivee comes up twisted. If you get revived in the ducts, you get twisted. Sometimes in battle a team-mate will drag another one to safety. A short drag will result in the person being only 'angled' over, not twisting--that's how I can usually tell if people are doing it on purpose or not.
Yes you will get kicked/tempbanned/banned if you do it on purpose.
I'll attempt over the next few days to make sure all admins at the Beach are aware of this 'official' position. Most already are aware and will kick for it.

Shall I direct the "Noobs" to this thread to stop the spamming.

dont droip dragging i use it a lot..for instance when a venom is in the ducts in hte alterante route nad a teamate is dead i drag him to safety so he doesnt get gibbed or so when i revive him idont hafta do it in harms way....i used it to drag a pazner who was outta live from the war room to the upper bunker so a medic would get him becasue none were coming to him...it was more for the pure fun of it
