Pointless threads and spamming...
There has been a lot of pointless threads in the forums lately, I think most people will agree... and a lot of spamming in these threads merely for the sake of increasing post counts.
I don't want to name names... the people involved know who they are...
Some people have taken it upon themselves to fight fire with fire and start REALLY pointless stuff... this tactic, while usually funny, is merely compounding the problem IMO...
My question is this: What should be done about this?
After looking around at the BF42.com forums, spamming and pointless polls and threads are quickly locked over there, and the people responsible are usually warned by the moderators to cool it.
Should the moderators here be less forgiving about the types of threads that are allowed to continue?
I think this is an important topic. The quality of the opinions and posts on the forums has a direct impact on the type of people who come here and contribute on a regular basis. I'm all for having a good time, I just think some have abused the privilege in the last 2 months or so...

I couldnt agree with you more RoW. Sifting through all the crap on the forums lately has gotten to be a little bit of a chore. It didnt used to be this way but I guess thats what happens when a community gets bigger. Anyway Im all for more moderation of the forums or maybe just stricter moderation. Just my 2 coppers.

Finally!! someone that has got the valor to tell it!!!
well one of the problems on Wolfenstein is the fact of a game that is 2 years old so it do not have so many addons like Battlefield can have so that can be a theme of discurssion but here.....
And ET is not a game to be talking about , you have just to play, play, play.....

Would it be possible to customize your own individual homepage? I don't play RTCW at all, ever, so I'm never interested in reading threads from that section. Yet the main page encompases all section. I don't mind the spam so much, but I would like to be able to tell my own mainpage what forums I want threads to be displayed from.
Well said, I agree completely. In fact, BF42.com is now full of crap too...I rarely post there anymore.
Spam keeps people away and I think that the post counter shoudl be done away with all together. It promotes spamming. Without it (and only having "member since" or something) there is no incentive to raise your rank.
Great post...I support you all the way man!

I agree with the anti-spam campaign, how ever, I would rather see it done by the posters rather then admins this is one of the things that I really like ecgn over bf42.com and this was even before ecgn took ownership of bf42.com, so people use your judgment...lets keep this place clean of the spam..

Look at all you guys on this post most have over 600 posts and im sure over 60% where spam/wasted not having to do with topics, or adding your opinion about stupid topics. My goal is only to get one star by my name
I think it will come around 200 posts. BUT for you forum whores find something else to do

At 175, your just a skank Lazer.........better start givin head, if you want to make whore. As for myself, I'm amazed I'm in the top 10 in posts still, I cut back on spamming big time, to the tune of 1.2 posts per day. I've been feeling much healthier since.

I think that Lazer has a valid point. I have seen some of the accusers on here spam severely. (I have enjoyed reading much of it, but it still has been spam.) I do it also, but I am not going to ask that others be stopped unless I am willing to suffer the same.
I think that Xenius and Tommy have great ideas. The post counter might help limit those trying to boost their posts. And I would love to not have to sift through the "Who is the coolest" crap seen on the RTCW thread. (And many others might not want to read my soccer and raven shield threads.)
Maybe instead of total customizing, maybe an ignore thread option similar to an ignore member option (god knows I use that often).
But come one guys.. I have seen many regs brag about their post count milestones. Lets not turn into an elitist group that dictates what is and what isn't "spam".

Mmmmmm SPAM
But seriously isnt this thread kinda spam like. I find SPAM harmless and sometimes mildly entertaining. And if people actually care about the number of posts they have they really need a life. I mean if anything you should be ashamed the more posts u have. I have like 50 or something and I'm kinda ashamed.
Oooh make that 82
