AHhh... a topic I'd love to deal with. You have any favorites? There's plenty to dig into. The most popular ones are:

  • 1st- dealing with religion/state relations, free speech, free association, free press
  • 2nd- dealing with right to keep and bear arms
  • 4th- dealing with unreasonable searches and siezures
  • 8th- dealing with cruel and unusual punishment
  • 10th- dealing with states' rights
  • 16th- dealing with the right of Congress to collect income taxes

I can probably get you plenty of material for a paper on any of those (and some not listed).

If it were me, I'd either take up the 1st (a current favorite in church/state arguments) and deal with the relationship between religion and state, or the 4th, and deal with a question of the right to privacy, and whether that even exists. ;)

Let me know if I can help.

No, you're confusing that with "bare arms." I'm talking about bear arms. Well, I guess bears don't really have "arms" per se - more like just four legs. But you could call their front legs "arms" if they were standing up. ;)

There is lots of good stuff out there about the supposed illegality and vagueness of the 16th amendment... lots of people have tried to use it as an excuse not to pay income taxes... but I've never heard of anyone winning in court against the IRS...

But then again, if they do, I bet it isn't publicized...but it's worth looking into as a research project... for school, that is...

Don't forget that little know 666th amendmant, the one that says if you have loads of cash or are a member of congress, you can do whatever the fuck you feel like.

Heh. Contrary to popular opinion, members of Congress can't (not that they haven't tried). If you'd care for some recent examples, I'd be happy to oblige.

The paper is really stupid, its just an argumentative one. I did one last year on affirmative action, so ive been banned on doing it this year. I thought about abortion, but that is such a fall back choice, kinda like capital punishment. I was thinkin of governmental deregulation or somethin like that. I mean, I could easily do one on censorship or somethin, but thats sooooo vast. I just want an easy simple topic that i could type into a search engine and get it done.

Oh, and to S.S. LAZER, first off, this forum is not dedicated to gameplay, it can be dedicated to just about anything, hence why it is called the smokin' room. No one said the threads in the smoking room had to deal with gameplay, or make sense for that matter. You can find anything here, like polls about power rangers and ninja turtles (one of the funniest by the way), so instead of being a hypocrite and posting onto the threads you hate so much, just ignore it if it bothers you. I am simply asking for some advice on a matter, and I'm sure that most of the members here at ecgn don't mind putting their 2 cents in here and there about it. I could understand your stance if I posted this at, say, the RTCW forum. But as you can see, I did not, end story.

Unfortunately, government regulation really wouldn't fall into the category of the Constitution's amendments - that'd be more in the Commerce clause of Article I, section 8. I think I might be able to find some decent sources on an amendment question - I'll check tomorrow at work....

Lazer:

This is the off-topic forum. Anything goes - doesn't have to be related to gaming!
