Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Just got a 120gb 7200rpm Western Digital Drive Cavier from EBAY, new in box. With shipping it came to $99.50. Hopefully I'll see a difference. Guess I will just slave the old 120HD 5400 rpm.

The first thing you should have done was... defragmenting your 5400rpm HDD... It already makes a big difference

Let me ask you this. Looking at HD's now. Is there a difference between IDE and ATA? If I can use IDE does that mean I can also use ATA. My MOBO says that I have one Ultra ATA expansion slot. Would I use that slot for the new ATA HD and leave the IDE where it is just as a slave?

ATA and IDE are (the way they're used today) the same thing.

Call me a corsair groupie, but look at my sig, and you tell me if your standard mem can handle running that much over stock (and it can do more, I'm limited by my proc). PNY isn't really bad mem, nor is kingston. They really aren't that overpriced either....unless you buy that kingston hyper-x crap. It costs more than corsair, with less performance.

just my 2 cents.

Where do I buy?

Took the advice on the Samsung RAM. Got three sticks of 512 coming and need to find a fourth. I bought the three off Ebay and sold the PNY. Where do I find the Samsung RAM. Want a last 512 stick to fill up the dimms.

If you have a Fry's Electronics, I would check there. My Fry's carries about a dozen different brands of RAM - including Samsung.

The post about the defrag on the 5400rpm HD is a slam dunk. I defrag once a month and after any huge uninstalls/installs. The guy from Best Buy and the a250n. Sure they put allot of junk on the machines. Thank GOD for the add/remove programs function. The 7200 came and it does run better. Just wasn't sure if it was worth the upgrade for the same storage space.
