A .22cal hand gun and a .22 cal rifle shoot the same bullet.

Being shot by a .22 cal is bad because one bullet can bounce off the bones in the body and strike many organs.

There have been cases were someone is shot in the chest by a .22 cal bullet and it has came out thier foot.

Although you can be shot and killed by any bullet from any gun for that matter depending on where the bullet hit, including a high powered BB gun.

Well, I hope all of you who are democrats in here remember this discussion when it comes down to Lieberman vs. Dean in the next presidential primary. Being from CT, I know the full scale of the damage that Lieberman could cause. If he's made president, there will be more attention spent in this country to stopping violent video games then there would be to rebuilding nations that need our help.

Dont confuse the 22 Long Rifle round (misnamed because it is the most common round for 22 cal pistols also) with 22 short or the dreaded 25 ACP rounds.

Those are the low impact rounds that home owners have told horror stories of shooting someone several times without slowing them down. Even then, these lowere energy rounds are very often deadly.

The 22 LR round is a killer. It has been listed by Guns and Ammo several times as the best home defense round. It will take a man down but it does not have huge penetration versus walls etc etc. Therefore, your neighbors and other family members are safer than shooting off other rounds.

The 22 LR has a hell of a lot more powder than a 22 short or a 25 ACP

I am in a physics class right now. What I do know about guns is that on rifles the length of the barrel is a lot longer than the lenght on a regular hand gun. With a longer barrel it gives the bullet more time to speed up, or gain velocity. The size of the bullet does matter but what also affects it is the speed and distance of the shot. With a rifle the bullet will travel much further with a much quicker velocity, making the bullet usually go into its target and straight out the other side, being that of a human target. With a hand gun the bullet does not have that much time to gain velocity so the bullet usually goes slower and a shorter distance, making bullets most likely stay in a persons body. So a rifle will usually do much more damage and a hand gun will penetrate but stay in someones body. Also depends on what part of someones body you hit.

Got to love physics eh? :)
