can someone say bipolar?

Of course nobody hated the yankees 80's when they couldn't win ball games. but now because they start winning again everyone hates them.

get over it.

Not hard to win when you have the biggest budget of any team by far, is it?

Hey The Mets had the second highest budget and look how they did.

Money doesn't have anything to do with it, if your players get injured and your team can't play like a team, just like this years Yankees and Mets, you're not going to win anything.

Marlins win it all with 1/3 the payroll of the Yankees. Just 'cause you pay someone a lot of money doesn't mean they will perform.

It even works that way with hookers....

I don't think this phenomenon is restricted to the Yankees. People get bored when the same team wins year after year. It's like the Bulls were in the NBA in Jordan's glory years. After a while, there's no suspense. Everyone knows who's going to win.

Parity is good. It keeps the sport fresh. Like the Angels unexpectedly winning the World Series last year.

Teams just get too over-hyped these days. I waited 30+ years for the Rams to win a Super Bowl and people grew to hate them quickly because the media over-hyped them and Kurt Warner. "The Greatest Show on Turf" - last year they were one of the worst shows on turf. Fortunes change quickly in sports.

If the Yankees fall into a funk and don't do well for several years in a row, there will be many less detractors (except for Red Sox fans).

Any team that is blessed with lots of 'haters' should be happy because that means they're successful. Few people hate the Cincinnati Bengals due to the fact that they're perennial losers. Now if they turn it around, and they are showing signs, people will start to hate them, too.
