What are your system specs? CPU? ram? HD space?

that shouldn't be, Do you have an AGP 8x slot? also if you haven't done it, clear you hard drive of unnessesary files, and do a good defragment and all.

I'd be curious what configuration settings he is running. There is definately something fishy.

OK, obviously something is wrong with your system, because a 9600pro is a good card.

Most likely, you have lots of junk on your computer, and it's running in the background without you knowing it.

My suggestion if your PC is full of crap: REFORMAT

Believe it or not, reformatting a system speeds up performance in game CONSIDERABLY.

I know it's a bi-atch to do, but it's a sure fire way to fix ur problem. Every computer needs that once in a while, keeps things from slowing down too much.

I did it that and the game increased the speed and fps

It also depends on how you log onto the game. Do you use the disk or icon? If you have good ram and a good cd drive best bet is to use the cd not the icon cause I think the icon you have to go through the C: drive to play or some crap. When ever I went through the icon I would get choppy game play at times. A good PC should handle it, and you have a good PC.

before you format, try cleaning out spyware.

Use Ad-Aware, or Spy-Bot: Search and Destroy.

Then, get Tweak-XP Pro and use one of its utilities to clean out unneccessary files and as well, invalid registry settings which is also one of its utilities.

Side note:

AGP8x cards and AGP4x cards, there is very little difference, like less than 1% difference. Reason? Today's video cards are barely taking advantage of the full bandwidth AGP4x has to offer. In the video card world, please remember this rule:

hardware is always, always moving faster than software can.

With the advent of Doom III and HL2 do we see software pushing AGP4x close to its limits but it is not fully to the edge AGP4x can take it. Keep in mind AGP4x has been around for 3 years... ;)

It almost sounds like your not running full hardware acceleration. Given that you just changed card manufacturers, I'd check your DirectX settings before doing anything drastic.

Shipwreck, do this for me:

start, run, type dxdiag

at the bottom, click 'save all information' and save it

Copy and paste the text of your dxdiag here
