As was shown, kind of, in the OJ Simpson debacle. You can sue for damages after the criminal trial is over. Oddly enough, Simpson was acquitted of the double-murder but he lost the civil suit and had to pay damages to the victim's families.

Rape is not what they're charging him with. And I'd like to point out that the victim and the victim's family don't have to choose between taking the money or putting the criminal in jail. Its up to the victim to testify, and now its mandatory in California. I don't want our international members thinking that our legal system is that F'd up.

Actually they will have to choose {in a personal matter} sooner or later, because everyone knows that Jacko is going to offer some money just to shut them up wether he did it or not

Yeah, but even if he does offer money, the kid still has to give a testimony. The law has changed since '93, so the victim would have to lie about it to take the money.
