Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

What is the purpose of this research though? Did they really need to write an equation?

the question is did they need to spend £10,000 to develop this?

I guess it kept people employed, but not very usefully unless the formula is of some use to Eggo. I cant imagine what they were thinking though.

The second formula has 2 typos. And it is redundant.

Even if corrected, both formulae are wrong, unless ULeeds has found a new unit for thickness measurement that uses Celsius degrees.

And this "explanation":
The Leeds University food scientist Professor Bronek Wedzicha translated the equation into practical terms for toast lovers.

Professor Bronek Wedzicha
"To produce the patches of butter most people said they preferred, the bread needs to be heated to at least 120°C, and the butter should be used straight from the fridge, applied unevenly within two minutes of the bread coming out of the toaster."

The formulae show nothing of the sort.

Smells like urban legend to me.

No, unless it's accompanied by blueberries and maple syrup.

Oh and also bacon, sausages, 2 eggs, hashed browns and a big pot of dark coffee.

I'm willing to work out the formula for that.

there can't ever be perfect toast anyway, cause my perfect toast would be different from everyone elses toast. like coffee, think of how everyone has coffee just their own way. You could have 2 pieces of this perfect toast and i could love it but maybe chacal would hate it cause its not made his way. Completely warped philosophy if you as me....
