ECGN Meetup Discussion

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Are you interested in a get-together this summer?

This sounds like fun, but east coast is way far for me out here in Oregon...

Like several hundred dollar plane ride I'm betting... not to mention lodging and what not...

Sheesh, we have enough trouble getting people to show up ONLINE for a BOTR... don't know what kind of turnout this would get...

So Buli, you putting people up for a few nights or what? :D

American McGee. Where do you live at in KC? I actually live in Smithville, but I have been in the KC area all my life. I work in Liberty.

If people can scrape together airfare, we can share rooms, etc. Just plan on giving your 'Wrist' a rest for a few nights.

Does summer represent a better/worse time for this even for parents with school-age kids? I'm in a good spot as my kids are old enough that I can attend anywhere, anytime.

Put me down for helping with coordination. If I can be of assistance, I'd be glad to help.

Thanks for getting this started, Buli.

Is this a drag-the-computer-along, LAN style event? Or is it more like a get-a-keg-and-some-strippers-and-a-hotel-room style event?

;)

Well, i'd have to talk to Weasel about it as well.. he drove me back when we went to LAN. Although, even if he doesn't go, im still game for going.

Again, although a Central location could be ideal, we are the EAST] coast gaming network, and a place like Virginia may be the best idea.

But.. any suggestions are taken to heart! We should for a commitee to determine location, what were going to do, whose going to attend, etc etc. More information possibly to follow.

Of course I'm in for something (esp. if it's in Northern VA or DC or somewhere like that). I doubt my wife would care too much for the kegger/stripper option, so I'd have to respectfully decline that particular opportunity. ;) There's plenty of other stuff around here to do, though - Six Flags, lots of museums (like the very cool Spy Museum and the new Air and Space Museum annex at Dulles airport), really good restaurants (with really good beer), the National Zoo, etc. Lots of places to stay, too.

I'd suggest that if we do want to do something this summer, it'd be a good idea to get somewhere for everyone to stay locked down somewhat early - summer is the tourist season around here, anyway. I'd be happy to help with whatever, if I can. :)

Philadelphia would be central for many of the Virginia and Ontario guys. Plus Philly is running a sleep over deal for staying in the city. Stay at a hotel for two nights and most of the time the second night is free or a dinner is thrown in.

New Hope, PA is a pretty damn cool spot to hang out and whatnot. Anyone ever been there?
