sorry for the bump, but does anyone know why? I did these "tweaks" and now I cannot connect to anything online...I used to be able to?
WTF?
Yes, it's a pure server, so it's doing a content check on you. You modified your config files, therefore, your content check fails..

so in order to join anything lonine, I have to reinstall?
Nobody mentioned that before !!

I am not cheating, just trying to get better performance. Damn!![]()
Well, you could just go back and undo the changes you made.

D'oh!
I suppose, you could install the game in two different directories?
I haven't played multi yet, so this is a learning exp. for me hehe since I did all those tweaks too.

Actually, you should be able to make a new pak file and drop the config files you want to change in them. If it handles all files the same way, anything in a newer (higher then the 4th original) pak file, or .pk4 should over ride the originals. So you should be able to extract the config file, and make your changes, then drop it into a new pak file (pak005.pk4) for example. Then anytime you want to play online just move the new pk4 file outa your game dir. In theory that should work...

Tommy that sucks dude. I was thinking of trying this but I am not that techi and I figure I would screw something up. The game seems to run fine anyway so why mess with it.

sorry tommy
a lot of people had success with this tweak, so I thought I'd post it to improve performance.
i should have been more clear about making a backup copy of the file, or something...
